Why dont you just read Superman?
Sentry
Character » Sentry appears in 966 issues.
After ingesting an experimental super-soldier formula, the lowly Robert Reynolds became the Sentry, if only in his mind. In constant battle with his dark side known as the Void, the Sentry has been forgotten and dead, he has resurrected and vanished. Even if he is one of earth's greatest heroes, he is also one of the world's greatest dangers.
Let's talk about sentry
@sog7dc: @kgb725: i don't think it was ever shown on panel, so no one is really sure if he had help or not.
lol is it ridiculous in a bad way? or is it ridiculous as in he's ridiculously powerful?
i'm not saying that the scan is right or not but here's a bit of ABC logic to think about..
Beta Ray Bill is strong enough to damage Galactus, and Beta Ray Bill >or= Thor, And Sentry is >>> Thor.
@sog7dc: And here's the Voidv who's undefeated so far, Dominating a mix of The Avengers, The X-Men, Blackbolt and The Inhumans, The Fantastic Four, Dr. Strange, Spiderman, And Namor All at once, and he didn't even use any of his vast powers, other than simple shapeshifting. They had to get Emma to beg him to un-void.
@kgb725: when people make claims like that it's always best to ask for scans lol.
Spider man didn't say he had help, but i do think i know what you're talking about. i think the person was messing around with sentry and said something like remember when we fought galactus? <- but that's just as controversial and debatable as What spiderman said.
@sog7dc: That's what we ALL want to know..
but i can think of a few reasons though i guess..
firstly, he's dead (lol)
secondly, As an earth hero, Nothing would really be a threat to him, as he's definitely the strongest being on earth.
I personally think he should join the Annihilators. It's a team of beings around his power level and they Face Galactic or Universal scale threats, plus if he voids outs out i'm sure they would be able to restrain him.
But seriously being an earth hero is seriously holding him back and setting him up for bad writing against earth-scale threats. Plus if he was an Annihilator, he would, you know, Annihilate (lol)
why wont marvel or dc give characters like sentry, martian manhunter, captain atom, mr majestic etc, their own titles? I mean we'd buy them so why wont they sell them? lol
(though I think dc should use majestic in either vertigo or something because usingmajestic in the mainstream dc universe is a bad idea)
Sentry, Blue Marvel and The Hulk are pretty much the most powerful people in the Marvel universe
*Cough* Thor and Silver Surfer *cough*

captain atom had a new 52 title that was cancelled after a fe waves. As for Martian Manhunter, that is a good question although you could say that Stormwatch was his title the same way Teen Titans was Tim Drakes.
Sentry was an annoying Mary Sue who's exit from Marvel was perhaps the best thing to happen. Stick with his miniseries and disregard everything else, it's pretty much a textbook example of an author's gratuitous wish fulfillment and power fantasies jumping out from Fanfiction.net into Professional media.
And even his miniseries is full of gratuitous shoehorning and "DA BEST EVA!"
@guardian_of_gravity: Not a fan of sentry huh
Yes, let's talk a junkie that's somehow supposed to be the Superman of Marvel. Nevermind that he's actually a mentally ill murderer.
I actually like that he's so ridiculously powerful. Idk i just dig powerful characters. I'd like a solo for him drawn by Olivier Coipel and written by Bendis. That would be fun as hell. What say you @killemall?
So looks like horsemen Sentry is going to be sticking around for a while, after the events of what happened in Uncanny Avengers. Thoughts?
@pperspectiveandreality: Oh i am already enjoying Rick Remender's version of Sentry, specially given he recently pulled off a feat that not even Thanos could pull it off, it was just insane. I just want Rick Remender to give us more of Sentry.
I also like Sentry as he is now, more of a villian but not outright evil doing what he think is the right thing to do, and of course insanely powerful.

youve got me curious now and I can't find it online lol what did he do that Thanos couldnt???
I would actually recommend you read the issue for clarification because the feat is a bit complex but here goes my explanation: Kang using the time damn save the Earth form destruction, heroes and X men are united but they have 1 problem Exitar the Celestial is here. So in order to stop that, virtually every X-men and Avengers pour their power into Rogue, she has so many powers that she now hears 100s of different voices in her head.
She goes and stop 1 foot of Exitar from landing on Earth and she is struggling.
So 1 foot is barely stopped, what about the other foot?
Wasp then convinces Sentry to help, who rather casually comes in and stops the other foot of Exitar.
Sentry , really, outperformed Rogue with the powers of 100s different heroes from Earth, without even stressing.
Hows that for a feat?
Let me know if you want scans posted..
Read his mini series from 2000 then stop. Brian Michael Bendis made him a bad character after that.
Wasn't that the series that tried shoving him down everyone's throats by making Marvel pretty much revolve around him and how great he was?

Naw, it was Bendis and co that started adding him into everyone's personal history in a Mary suish way.

Really?
Wasn't it in the Marvel Knight's series that he taught Angel to fly, got Peter Parker a Pulitzer Prize just for taking a photo of him, turned Hulk into a beloved good guy thanks to his greatness, helped Tony Stark overcome alcoholism etc?

Oh wait, I think you might be right. They also made him Reed Richard's best friend and motivator. Didn't Rogue also have his first sexual encounter with Bob or was retconned?

I think that was revealed after his death.

It's not bout Rouge! It's all about Bob!
In all seriousness, most of the Sentry's 'mary sueish' stuff wasn't really designed with him being a full part of the MU in mind and, really, most of it was more metaphorical than actually meant to be taken completely literally.
When you talk to people about the mentally ill, and the way their illness made them fade out of their own lives, and how their own lives are impacted by this, they all seem to talk about how much 'better' their lives were before the illness claimed their son/brother/nephew/friend, and so on. It's about the contribution made by someone, and then how when illness claims them, all that is forgotten. It's a bit ham handed, but honestly, it's not really essential to the character except to show that he was integrated and previous existing relationships. I don 't mind him having been best friends with Reed Richards back in the day, though, and it's been shown that the Sentry's memories aren't exactly reliable and is often prone to delusional narcissism anyways. xD
how can you not like the guy is epic as hell. Heck even hooked up with rogue when even the small touch from her sends people into comas. I love the guy he needs another another go as a hero let him be apart of the cosmic community.
not a bad character but they just keep trying to top his and other characters like him feats that they make him nearly unusable
they don't have this problem with Thor, his major stories take place in Asgard and by the time he's back with Avengers he's de-powered.
you also gotta love that he is an extension to Cap.
