Dr.Trask first created a proyotype,the Master Mold,and then the Mark one Sentinels. But the Sentinels' logic led them to decide that they could best ptotect humanity be taking control of it. So they rebelled agianst Trask and made him thier prisoner. Trask realized,to his horror,that it was he who had created the real threat to humanity. He therefore sacrificed his life by triggering an explosion that destroyed the Master Mold and the Sentinels. Blaming the X_Men for his father's death,Larry, Trask's mutant son who had the ability to see the future,built the Mark two Sentinels. These could analyze any threat and determine how best to counter it,making them nearly invincible. The Sentinels realizing that Larry was a mutant turned on him. He was killed during the battle in which the Mark two Sentinels were also destroyed. Once the Sentinel technology had been invented,it could not be suppressed. The U.S. government took possession of Trasks' designs and commissioned industrialist Sebastian Shaw to consruct a new line of Sentinels for federal use. There have also been several other versions of the Sentinels,including those that resembled the X_Men and human beings with Sentinel technology implanted in them--cyborgs called Prime Sentinels.

PRIME SENTINELS

Bastion outfited certain Prime Sentinels in uniforms that made them resemble the original Sentinel robots. Technological implants enabled them to fly and fire energy blasts from their hands. And like the originals, humans who became Prime Sentinels were programmed to eliminate the mutant menace.

NIMROD

Created in the alternate reality of the "Days of Future Pasts," Nimrod was the most advanced Sentinel of his time. By pursuing the mutant Rachel Summers,Nimrod traveled through time to the X_Men's present,were he became a vigilante combatting criminals. Nimrod ultimately evolved into the humanlike form of Bastion,the creator of the Prime Sentinels.
