The Emerald Empress of the Fatal Five and Projectra of the Legion are longtime adversaries. In original Legion continuity, the enmity between them grew personal when the Empress approached Projectra (then in disguise as Sensor Girl) and asked her to join her new Fatal Five. Sensor Girl refused and struck the Empress instead. The Empress vowed revenge and later got it when the Eye blasted Sensor Girl and stripped away her disguise. In their final confrontation the Empress was dying from the Eye's energies but simultaneously kept alive by them, and the Empress begged her old enemy Projectra to help her end her suffering. Projectra took pity on the Empress and used her illusory powers to mask the Empress' presence from the Eye, allowing the Empress to die in peace. In later continuities the two women are still enemies, though their confrontations have not been as personal.
