The strengths of Gail Simone as a writer are the fact that she's so damn good at writing darkly twisted, action packed, and/pr humorous stories.

This issue has all of her strengths and is an incredible showcase of her talent.

The Secret Six manage to survive hell out of pure audacity.  I have to say the ending of his arc is a tad anti-climactic but it's strongly and emotionally charged.  That's the joy of reading a book about anti-villains, Gail doesn't write characters who don't care if they die, she writes characters who accept their fate and are willing to painfully drag anyone down with them.

One the best parts of the book is her showcasing everyone's hell.  She nicely references Catman's parentage and it's a strangely disturbing yet harm warming scene as Catman has a tender moment with his mother who's heaven is eating Catman's father every day, which is his father's hell.

Deadshot is confronted by his kills, Bane revisits losing his mother and his life in prison, and  we get a deeper look into Jeanette's back story.  It's satisfying to see this brief glimpse into her past as we see her first husband furious about her not revealing her immortality.

I'm obsessed with this one moment..  It's a credit to Gail Simone and how she perfectly sets up this comedic beat.  All the characters goes through deeply personal torment with loved ones and their past, meanwhile King Shark's hell first has him as a rich playboy who goes to a restaurant with two ladies at his side, everything seems perfect except... the restaurant is vegetarian!  There's nothing to imply that the rest of this world is vegetarian but it's hilarious that he's basing this importance on happiness on meat.  It's this kind of tiny character work that really makes it a joy to read.

Jim Califiore's artwork isn't my favorite style.  But he does an incredible job in these issues as I fins his strengths to be in the more horror and supernatural issues.

This issue is a must read.

The Story:  The conclusion to the Secret Six's visit to hell.  Who will win the day?  Who will get the card?  Will Doll get married?  The review:  In true Gail Simone fashion the conclusion to this arc arrives with some very interesting plot threads hanging out there.  We have Thomas, Catman, meeting up with his father which is resolved in a fittingly twisted and horrible way.  We have the main struggle between the Hell prince Ragdoll and his minions vs The Six led by Scandal. This is resolved t...

The Good: Redundant, but I still LOVE Calafiore's artwork. It's especially great here with all the demons and demonic forms of the Six.Speaking of, I have to make a special mention of the Six's 'Demon Lord' designs. We already got a peek at Scandal and Bane from the cover of #31, but Calfiore really brings them to life, and they look AWESOME. Bonus that they get to keep them when they fight.I've been noticing a lot of writers not writing Etrigan's rhymes very while. They rhyme and work, but they...
