SECRET INVASION IS HERE!! Years in the making, months in the teasing...and it all STARTS HERE!! The shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls has secretly infiltrated every super-powered organization on Earth with one goal...full-scale invasion! In this DOUBLE-SIZED first issue, page after page unveils reveal after reveal and shocking moment after shocking moment! Brian Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu leap off the pages of mega-hit New Avengers and deliver a story that will change the Marvel Universe forever. THE MARVEL UNIVERSE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!!!!!!!!

Iron Man shows the dead Elektra Skrull to Mr. Fantastic and Hank Pym, saying that they are the smartest guys on the planet. He fills them in on what's been going on and even says that he can't even be sure if they are who they say they are.

On the Earth orbiting headquarters of S.W.O.R.D., Commander Dugan pays them a visit. While there, a red alert sounds off signaling the arrival of an alien spacecraft heading directly towards Earth. Agent Brand recognizes it as a Skrull ship. It crashes in the Savage Land. Brand calls Stark.

Back in Stark's lab, he tells Richards and Pym that this is a new type of Skrull, completely undetectable. They prepare to examine the body to discover how it could have been undetectable when he receives the call and leaves.

Iron Man tries assembling the Mighty Avengers. The only one there is Spider-Woman. He tells her about the crash and says to gather everyone to the quinjet on the roof. As Jarvis goes about his duties, Spider-Woman makes a call to Luke Cage. She tells him to get a head start to the Savage Land since she trusts him more than she trusts Stark. Luke asks the others if they're ready to piss off everyone. They are.

Arriving at the Avengers Tower rooftop, the Secret Avengers find the Black Widow there. Spider-Man webs her up while Ronin throws his nun-chucks at her, knocking her out. They proceed to steal the quinjet.

When Iron Man and the others arrive a few minutes later, Stark isn't too happy. They still cannot make a safe landing in the Savage Land as a huge dinosaur takes a bit out of the quinjet. On their way to the Skrull crashsite, they pass by the base they had their first battle. The place is a smoldering wreck. They don't bother checking what happened there since that's not what they came for.

They find the crashed Skrull ship. Wolverine can't smell anything since it's sealed shut. They debate whether or not to open it since it could either contain an army of Skrull soldiers or could contain prisoners with answers. Before they can do anything, the other Avengers arrive.

Luke says he's going to open it. Iron Man raises his hand but Luke tells him his suit can't hurt him. As soon as the door is pried open, Dugan says, "He loves you..." A bomb destroys the S.W.O.R.D. headquarters. Jarvis pulls out a disc and uploads an alien virus. The virus compromises Iron Man's suit. He falls to the ground seemingly in pain. The S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier has lost complete power and is falling towards the city. The virus spreads throughout all of Stark's facilities. The superhuman prison, the Raft loses complete power and the prisoners are free from their cells. The same happens at the Cube and Noh-Varr, a.k.a. Marvel Boy is free. At Thunderbolt Mountain Norman Osborn's computer starts to fizzle and an explosion knocks them all out. Songbird looks up and sees Captain Marvel arrive. At the Baxter Building, a Skrull posing as a tourist changes into Sue Storm and manages to gain access to the private elevator. She walks past Johnny, Franklin and Valeria and heads into Reed's lab. Compromising the portal to the Negative Zone, "she" simply says "He loves you..." as a big chunk of the Baxter Building is ripped into the Negative Zone.

Back in the Savage Land, the Mighty Avengers try tending to Tony Stark. He's having a seizure. They discuss what to do when their attention is drawn to the Skrull ship. Emerging from the ship is a band of Earth heroes including Spider-Man, Beast, Thor, Luke Cage, Jean Grey, Invisible Woman, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and others. The Wolverine from the ship says he knows who he is and asks who they (the Avengers) are supposed to be.

In Earth's orbit, Agent Brand tries calling the helicarrier. Their escape-globs only have about ten minutes left of oxygen. Not getting a response, she sees an armada of Skrull ships heading their way.

In Stark's lab, Reed thinks he has discovered how the Skrulls were able to go undetected. He's about to inform Pym, who holds an alien gun to him, saying he already knows how. He shoots Reed, transforms into a Skrull and says, "He even loves you."

Bloodwolf Vs. Secret Invasion Part 1: A Half-Way Decent Beginning 0

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Secret Invasion, in my mind, one of the biggest disappointments in the history of Marvel Comics. First and foremost, a little background. At this point, it has become increasingly clear that Earth has been secretly invaded by a shape shifting race of aliens known as the Skrulls. As part of their nefarious plot, the Skrulls have each taken the place of several super-heroes and well known figures in the Marvel Universe, including Elektra, Blackbolt, and several oth...

Loud Idiots Review of Secret Invasion #1 0

Forty-five years ago, the Skrull debuted as one of the most prominent extra-terrestrial races in the Marvel Universe. After years of half-assed, crackpot schemes to take over the earth (Including one that resulted in an entire planet of skrulls who adopted the personae of Prohibition era gangsters, I kid you not), the shape-changing Skrull have finally gotten their act together and launched a full scale infiltration of human society. Now anyone could be a Skrull, and the question Earth's heroes,...

    Accusations made in this... 0

Within the first 2 pages of Secret Invasion #1 i can see that (write to me to find out) is a skrull and i can justify my reasoning for this, The writing combined with the artwork gives it away in one frame and it would explain irrational and uncharacteristic behaviour in a prvious story arc.Other than this i think Bendis' writing is excellent. I think that this "subtle as a brick" approach to this issue compensates for the apparent clues about the Invasion that lie in previous issues of other ti...
