One of the rules Superheroes have, well most of them any way, is a code against killing. One cool thing about this series so far is it is showing a bunch of super powered people who know they are in a war, and are willing to kill for the cause. The twist is, here there is a definite amount of sympathy for the skrulls, as they are outed, and then killed of almost instantly. One especially invokes some serious emotion from the reader.  This gives the book a depth not found in the previous issues, it also gives the heroes just cause for their frustrations to reach the boiling point.

    Spoilers, naturally.

Well, I gotta say that Mr Bendis is holding this whole thing together very well indeed.  This is one of the strongest issues yet with frenetic pacing and scene jumping and an enticing ending.  As always, Leinil Yu is on the money.  Early on there's a terrific two page spread of the Skrulls broadcasting a message all around the world but they aren't scaring the Earthlings by using their big ugly Skrully faces to transmit the news.  Instead, they morph into the likes of Barack Obama, Yeltsin, Tony Stark and others (is that Tom Cruise on the bottom left hand side?) to allay humanity's fears.  Meanwhile after some serious shooting from the Black Widow last issue, Bendis continues his hot chick action with both Maria Hill and Agent Brand producing acts of derring do.  It's all very impressive.  Everything builds at break neck speed to a very satisfying finale in this issue where a certain character produces a weapon that looks to be the Skrulls' undoing - and another character goes, well, a bit doolally, as we say in the UK.  Oh, this is getting good, folks.

    No Cliffhangers here!

Well, what we thought was going to happened they all turned out to be skulls!  I know some of us privately or openly wished/dreamed but we knew the trueth as soon as they landed!  If Bendis really had talent and skill, so of them would have been real!  That would really screw everyone mind up and keep them guessing wouldn't!  Or why wouldn't they have picked those heroes up and switch them and think of the problems they could have caused.  They definitely will swear through torture that they are who they think they are!  This issue kind of undermines the whole storyline up to the point so far.  They have just sacrificed all these great undercover agents, with wicked powers for nothing, when they could be in control of Earths greatest groups.

This whole Agent Brand surviving in space without a suit and sneaking in a skull ship the a unlocked airlock and defeating all the guards  and knowing skullian language is just ridiculous.  It is as bad as Fury and his BRat pack of unknown, untrained, E level heroes saving the day, just plain stupid!!!!!!!!
Also, on the 1st page of the Savage Land on panel 6 they show Echo, who was killed by the Skull spider-woman (Sloppy)!  I have such a problem with the Jessica Jones thing because she wasn't even a hero back then but then again Bendis just invents history, too!  There is no reason for the language, if Bendis can't write a story without puting the F-word in it then maybe he shouldn't write.  These are suppose to be for 13 year old children and *&*^ infront ing doesn't change what he is writing.  people have been expressing their emotions 1000 years and didn't use that kind of language and I don't think it should be used in comics!!!!!!!!!

I am not a fan of YU art and that hasn't change 5 issues in!

If you want to read a good series (I can't believe I am saying this because I use to bleed MArvel) Final Crisis is worth $3.99, this isn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
