On the final page of Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force #19 we saw the giant image of Captain Britain -- and in our very first look at Remender's next big project at Marvel, SECRET AVENGERS, we see more of Britain's very own superhero in action. But wait, that's not all.

In a recent Marvel Live Blog writer Rick Remender and artist Gabriel Hardman discussed their work on SECRET AVENGERS, which Remender is set to take over beginning with issue #21.1. The new creative team also means a shift to the current roster. Remender recently revealed plans to bring Venom, Hawkeye and Captain Britain onto the team.

Much like what we saw in UNCANNY X-FORCE, Remender will be planting the seeds of story and mystery early on in his upcoming book. Remender's first dive into the series will be through issue #21.1 where the writer will re-establish relationships between Avengers characters like Hawkeye and Captain America. In this issue, Remender will begin by setting up the Masters of Evil with their very own "sovereign nation," meaning that this group of bad-guys will be getting their very own country to operate -- likely in the style of Doctor Doom's Latveria.

== TEASER ==
"One of the important things for me with big super hero stuff is seeding things early on. Setting up long term mysteries...It's hard to re-establish relationships between characters like Cap and Hawkeye who you as a fan have known for so long, but that's what I tried to do for new readers in the Point One issue...In Clint's eyes, he's the direct approach kind of guy, he doesn't like spy work, but Cap thinks this fits his skill set. An archer or a sniper needs to be covert and deadly. Cap's only concern is Clint's temper, so the Point One issue is a test.

Some of what Rick Remender has been building in his UNCANNY X-FORCE series will cross over into his SECRET AVENGERS story line, as well. The character "the Father," a name UNCANNY X-FORCE readers might recognize, was responsible for helping to create the descendants of all the robots in the Marvel Universe. According to Remender, the Father poses a great threat and it is something that will be revealed over time.

"Every cool robot in the Marvel Universe has a Descendant and they're all working together. It's something that will be problematic for a lot of people moving forward. This can't be swept under the rug. These are sentient beings. It will cause a dilemma...The big thing that came to me was that bonding with technology is a natural part of humanity's evolution. There is a way to make that slightly villainous. You have an entire species of Sentinaughts who have a built-in hatred of mutants. The X-Men may not want to be buddies with them. I always wondered why the Reavers hated mutants. Their connection with Father explains a lot of that. He needed storm troopers to protect his new race from a competing species."

Remender's experience on VENOM will certainly come in handy as both he, Hawkeye, and Captain Britain will all be joining the team. According to Remender, Venom might be the "odd man out" -- at least at first. The writer likened Venom's character to a kid who grows up loving music and goes on to work with Madonna.

The writer also discussed that Venom's joining of the Secret Avengers won't be something to come out of left field. Venom's 'Circle of Four' story arc launching in his self-titled series next month will "lead into Venom's role in the Secret Avengers," and, in a way, it will tie the two series together.

As for what's next? Be on the lookout for War Machine who is set to make an appearance in the upcoming arc thanks to the events that will be taking place in AVENGERS VS X-MEN. What do you think of the new additions to the Secret Avengers roster? Are you looking forward to Remender's takeover of the series?

Im interested to see venom thrown into the mix here, no telling how it will turn out. Great work Mr. Remender

Venom looks a lot more venom-y. Looks like flash might become bonded to the suit and venom will take over, maybe during the venom event. I hope not though.

Nice Masters of Evil with their own country. Always wondered why Super Villains didn't band together and take over a small country without any Superheroes.

I hope Cap takes Hawkeyes head off for that. It's about time Cap was included in something like this, he's been an Avengers since in the end of Secret Invasion. I don't know why they changed his costume back though, it looked so much better in CB & MI13. (I wonder if they'll change it again in 2014 after the Scottish Referendum)

Those covers are AWESOME!

Wait, so War Machine is involved with Secret Avengers because of something that happens in Avengers vs. X-Men, Venom joins them because of something that happens in his series and Captain Britain will be fleshed out more in Uncanny X-Force? I love comics molding into each other. Let's hope Remender writes Secret Avengers as well as he has Uncanny.

@Dernman: The Father was running The World in Deathlok Nation (2nd volume of Uncanny X-Force)

Very excited for this, totally jumping on for Remender. Looks like he's bringing The Father and Lady Deathstrike back in.

This looks great! I hope I can pick it up in trade along with X-Force. They really need Remender to add some cohesion to the DCnU cos this guy sounds like an expert on linking stories.

I really hate THAT Captain Britain costume.....

#26 Posted by sweetesttoaster (144 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm basically going to read this because Uncanny X-force was so good. But now that I'm seeing more of the previews for this, it's actually getting me excited to read this. I like parts of the team, so I'm waiting to see how that pans out. The best part of Uncanny X-force was the interaction between the team members, so it looks promising. Also, Venom is a plus.

Have we heard about which Human Torch that is? It sure does look like Jim Hammond.

#28 Posted by saoakden (1047 posts) - - Show Bio

Awesome man, I wonderif they're going to make a crossover with Venom, Secret Avengers, and Uncanny X-Force. That be crazy.

Things I love: Hawkeye, Flash Venom, Secret Avengers.

Thanks for cramming them all into one book.

I'm jazzed for this! I'll miss Cap and Moon Knight, but glad that Beast and Ant-Man are still around.

Wikipedia (for what that's worth) claims it is indeed Jim Hammond.

#39 Posted by RedheadedAtrocitus (6885 posts) - - Show Bio

Wow, Venom's appearance is making me think more and more about this book. This is awesome stuff...

#40 Posted by Skaddix (3114 posts) - - Show Bio

not really a fan of the new team. Hawkeye and Pym are not popular enough to justify this many appearances in avenger books. And in no way Should Black Widow ever take orders from Hawkeye on this type of a team.

#41 Posted by Deadcool (6810 posts) - - Show Bio

Venom, Captain Britain, Captain America, Valkirie and RICK REMENDER!!! I love it

#42 Posted by BlackArmor (6141 posts) - - Show Bio

Should I read this?

#43 Posted by lemontron (62 posts) - - Show Bio

@BlackArmor: probably!

#44 Posted by BlackArmor (6141 posts) - - Show Bio

@lemontron: Thanks for the advice

#45 Posted by CATPANEXE (9368 posts) - - Show Bio

Venom likes Madonna?

The MOE thing reminds me of their House Of M book. I think that's sort of interesting.

I dropped this series but Remender makes it hard to pass on, it also seems he really is going to take this in a different direction.

I wonder of this series will evolve in the pivotal manner Thunderbolts has where a new writer comes on board every now and then and

the team and direction of the stories fluctuate a bit?

#46 Posted by WarMachineMarkV (1214 posts) - - Show Bio

- Captain Britain on a black ops style team?

- The main team needs powerhouses, he should be there and give the team a more international flavor

- I am still confused how any of the rosters for this series made any sense whatsoever

Great !!! But this Venom is so stupid... I don't like him.

Seriously, You like Flash Thompson's Venom??. This Venom don't have soul. Venom is a great villain or antihero, Eddie Brock and Mc Gargan are agressive, badass, cool characters. This new Venom are a mutilated war veteran, who best merit was to turn crazy Peter Parker in the highschool...Come on... I don't know what won an Avenger team with this Venom.

In the last decade, The Avengers became "Marvel Universe team". Spiderman, Thing, Wolverine, Storm, Captain Britain, Venom... I don't know why this roster must to be necessary. The team lost identity.
