It's not really him. And he's not going to be around past this arc considering Carol is becoming Captain Marvel.

Genis-Vell or Mar-Vell? I prefer the latter, but seeing as Ms. Marvel will become the next Captain Marvel whatever point they make here could be rendered mute, unless this is where her transition begins.

Critically acclaimed psssh no. Just no marvel.

I don't think so. I think it might lead up to her decision to take up the mantle, but I wouldn't expect anything directly related to that.

It's a Kree body possessed with the Phoenix Force... or something like that. idk i don't really get the Phoenix force and how it works but you saw the Phoenix force engulf a body that was dressed like Captain Marvel and then it came to life and wants to kill the Avengers, with help from Noh-Varr and Ms Marvel.

Are they just coming to make every ones origins connected to the PF?

@X35: So this isn't actually the original Mar-Vell, just a PF knock off used to provide 'dramatic tension/conflict' in this event. At least Marvel's standards haven't dropped that low.

@Lvenger: Idk... it might be Mar-Vell's body but the wrong colored costume makes me just think it might be some random Kree corpse in a Marvel costume. There's some Kree minister who was boosting about how the Phoenix will bring the second coming of Mar-Vell.

As much as I like Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel and Noh-Varr I've got my doubts about this. Not sure if this is CM or, like somebody said, a Kree body brought back or even the PF taking the form of Marvel. What concerns me more is the bit that says "But, as the Kree rally – Thor and his team must face off against Captain Marvel, The Protector & Ms. Marvel in an attempt to halt the Phoenix Force! Want to know the mysterious connection the Kree have with the Phoenix Force?" First up it suggests Avenger v Avenger, second some hidden (hello retcon!) link between the Kree and PF, simply for this storyline. Which all makes as much sense as the first issue Capt/Cyclops bit...in other words none!

How is this a first look...

Man I love that cover. Still, that being said, isn't it kind of weird that the Kree are becoming part of the bigger picture all the time? Hmmm...and considering how the AvX fight is seeming more and more like the Superhuman Civil War, I can't help but see the similarities and parallels. Still is good stuff regardless!

all this tells me is that Remenders first arch as a writer for this book ends with the next book. I had no idea how it was going to last.......................................now I do.

@Z3RO180: Thor isn't a secret avenger they just sent him there because he's one of their heaviest hitters and he can survive in space (same thing for ms marvel, protector and vision)

I finally caught up on Remender's writing for this series. I far preferred the previous issues to the AVX tie-in.

The cover art is incredible. Alan Davis does not disappoint.
