X-MEN: SECOND COMING Written by Christopher Yost & CRAIG KYLE Pencils & Variant Cover by David Finch Cover by ADI GRANOV Many will be wounded. Several will die. The climax of four years of X-Men stories is the X-Event of 2010! What started in HOUSE OF M with the Decimation of mutantkind and erupted with the first new mutant birth in MESSIAH COMPLEX finishes here. In the epic crossover SECOND COMING, Cyclops’ faith pays off when Cable returns to the present with Hope, the girl he believes to be the mutant messiah. But will she be the savior or destroyer of mutantkind? We may never know, as she is the target of an initiative for mutant eradication unlike anything they X-Men have ever experienced. Many will be wounded. Several will die. Is Hope worth it? 48 PGS./Rated T+ ...$3.99
X-MEN: HOPE #1 Written by Duane Swierczynski Pencils & Cover by steve dillon Hope Summers could be the much-heralded "messiah" who will save mutantkind from extinction...or she could just be some poor kid, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time(s). Either way, since her infancy she's been raised by mutant soldier Cable in a hostile, dying future Earth -- and she's had to learn some hard lessons along the way. Now, Duane Swierczynski and Steve Dillon bring you four thrilling, untold tales from Hope's future past as she grapples with vicious snipers, robot wolf packs, mutant rats, and even Cable himself. This is the place to start if you want to know what the X-Men's future "messiah" is made of. 32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$2.99
CABLE #24 Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI Penciled by PAUL GULACY Cover by MARKO DJURDJEVIC “HOMECOMING,” CONCLUSION This is it. No more hiding. No more plots. No more weapons. It’s coming down to mutant vs. mutant in the subterranean tunnels of New York, and only one of them will make it back to Westchester alive. You will not want to miss this issue, which leads directly into the X-MEN: SECOND COMING crossover. 40 PGS./Rated T+ ...$3.99

" " Many will be wounded. Several will die." Ooohh... to whom does this apply? "
The excessive numbers of minor characters on Utopia?? Ugh, I'm really not looking forward to this. Ultimatum lost it's momentum when it became a slaughter fest... I don't think I want to see the few remaining numbers of mutants even further reduced in numbers.

True, true... I actually thought that Dragoness has died years ago, and despite my memory spanning back to the early 90's I don't know who the F*&* Bliss is, so I couldn't give a toss if they karck ir.
That said, Second Coming one-shot is by K&Y. So I doubt they would settle for anything less than C or even B-listers... that's the Magma's, Dazzler's & Trance's of the X-World :(

I still hang on to the hope that Hope isn't Jean. It's (for want of a better term) "too obvious". However, it's beginning to look more & more like a Phoenix/Jean resurrection...

Yeah it kinda would be too obvious for her too be Jean, but i still wonder how Jean will fit in with the team when she comes back.. alot has happened since her death.
@xxCellPhoneGirlxx: We've seen the Phoenix Force being drawn away from the Cuckoos, and (from what I've read) from Rachel too. Then there's been the repeated use of the Phoenix' fire reflected in Hope's eyes... so could this be a sign of things to come in Second Coming??
I am afraid that the writers plan on killing off Cyclops. Just freaking everything points on that - he's not on the covers, his leading is being questioned for no obvious reason...
@xerox-kitty: I think that the deaths that will be coming in second coming will be different to that of the ultimatum story. IMO this wont be mass killing but the killing of quite important characters i.e. maybe Cable or one of the core members.
I also think that we wont be seeing the pheonix again untill maybe the end of second coming or it will be the arc afterwards.
One Will Lead? No guesses who... after all, this does involve Matt Fraction :p "
love the pictures, they look really good. colossus looks so cool, so does emma & hope and the group one. I hope each chapter remains good and not invovlved crap artist in storyline, like they did for messiah complex. I stop collected messiah war, i only collected 2 comics, still going to buy the graphic noval. Might do the same with second coming. Who do i think going to die, maybe some of the x-factor, cable maybe, x-23, maybe, hope it looks like she bleeding. Maybe she dies and jean rises. I doubt there kill magneto & cyclops. If that is rogue above she looks horrible.
Mike Choi is excited at killing off a major character. He tweeted:
It's been revealed in April's Solicits that I will be killing at least one major X-Men character in X-Force 26. I'll reveal that Sonia actually teared up when first hearing who and how they died. I laughed heartily thinking of the potential royalties.
So anyway, here's the solicitations (with write ups) for April:
DEADPOOL & CABLE #25 Written by DUANE SWIERCZYNSKI Penciled by PACO MEDINA Cover by ROB LIEFELD Variant Cover by SIMONE BIANCHI “TWO MUTANTS AND A BABY” DOUBLE-SIZED FINAL ISSUE CO-STARRING DEADPOOL! You know, before that red-headed would-be messiah/destroyer of the world showed up, Cable had another partner. That’s right: Wade Wilson -- a.k.a. Deadpool! And while everybody’s excited about Cable bringing Hope back to the present to rejoin the X-Men, they’re forgetting the most important part of the story: The beginning, back when Cable first lifted the helpless baby out of her incubator up in Alaska. Wait -- You don’t think Cable did that alone, did you? You don’t think he managed to make his way across hundreds of miles, avoiding Predator X and Purifiers without a little assist, do you? Hell no. Cable asked for help from his favorite Merc with a Mouth and now, finally, this action-packed, oversized story can be told. Before there can be an end, there must be a beginning. 48 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

And the battle between the New Mutants and Hodge’s forces ends here! 32 PGS./Rated A …$2.99
A lot of people seem concerned about the death toll. It seems that at least one of the New Mutants will be a casualty. In fact, there are few titles that don't mention the possibility of death.
Personally, I doubt that Cyclops will die. He's Matt 'Mr Uncanny' Fraction's golden boy. Too many titles revolve around Cyclops. Not to mention, with the apparent deaths of Captain America & Batman (big heavy hitters), it would be cheap of the X-Editors to try it with their 'lead' mutant.
But what do people think of Cable & Deadpool #25? Cheap gimmick? Too much Deadpool? Do we really need to see the story of how Cable survived in the snow, rewritten?
the death could be Cable, just an early guess. he's been a target in this for a long time. plus that issue not only being the finale, but a flashback as well. also by trying to decipher whats going on with the bloody, sad, Hope and Emma cover there, and as well, i havent read anything about Cables place in Utopia upcoming past this in interviews. not going on it 100%, but ill lay some chips on Cables slot for now.
I just hope that they dont get rid of the mutant royalty, i.e. Emma Frost and Cyclops. If Emma dies i probably will stop reading the uncanny book, just because she is my favorite character.
I honestly don't think so. It's just been done in X-Men: Forever, so I doubt main Earth-616 will do the same.
@CATMANEXE said:
"the death could be Cable, just an early guess."
I like your reasoning. And it would be an extra tragedy for Cable to struggle for so many years & then die at the last hurdle.
But Cable can be seen lying on the ground in the Adi Granov cover to Uncanny. I suspect that they wouldn't give something like that away on a cover... unless someone at Marvel made a huge F up.
" I just hope that they dont get rid of the mutant royalty, i.e. Emma Frost and Cyclops. If Emma dies i probably will stop reading the uncanny book, just because she is my favorite character. "
Emma isn't going anywhere she's too big right now to die.
If Cyclops dies, I'm going to swear off of the X-Men. He is far and beyond my favourite mutant, and if he dies, that franchise is dead to me too. On the other hand, if Wolverine dies, I'll buy Marvel a puppy.
@FadeToBlackBolt: i very much doubt that they will kill off Cyclops, i think it would be better for Cyclops to be seriously injured and Emma takes up the role of leader of the X-Men.
and i agree with you about wolverine, i think that he should leave the x-men and join this heroic age thing thats starting after seige so that he's not in the x-men anymore.
Is there even a point to "seriously" injuring characters anymore, Elixir is just gonna heal um. And i wouldn't be to surprised if they did kill Cyke, just cause he hasn't really died to my knowledge. If Cyke's down, i see power struggle between Emma and Mags, not pretty.
CLASSIFIED refers to Kitty Pryde. Having seen the trailer on Marvel.com, I can say confidently that its gonna be her. Also at the end of Uncanny 520, Magneto is seen trying to attempt to do something huge to gain some trust from Cyke, which I'm guessing is using his powers on the Big giant bullet shes trapped in. Fraction's interview on IGN pretty much confirmed Magneto is to thank for Kitty's return. Also I agree with the posters who think Cyke is gonna gets bumped off in second coming. He's not seen in any of the covers, and the leadership position seems to be up for grabs in the 'Who will Lead' teaser, I know he's front and centre in Daniel Acuna art, but that could be coz someone at marvel noticed his absence from all the covers and want to throw us off.
i doubt they will kill him off. but i think he wont be the leader after second coming i think it will be Emma as she is his right had woman. And seeing as Magneto is going to be bringing kitty back is that really enough for the x-men to trust him as their leader?
"I'm just gonna throw this out there...I think Nightcrawler will die. "
Any reason why?
Personally, I don't think Kurt will die. That was the shock opening to the latest issue of X-Men: Legacy, Rogue stating that Nightcrawler is dead. So if he happens to survive the Necrosha story on Muir Island, then I don't think they'd 'kill' him straight away afterwards.

I just think his death would have the most impact, not to mention, I don't remember him ever dying before. I may be wrong on that. And not that it makes any difference because I'd imagine following his death, he would end up in that brimstone dimension with his father and eventually find his way out.
