Third 'Mortal Kombat' Movie Rumors
It feels like Warner Brothers owns everything, doesn't it? At least it does to me; and it seems as though their assets just continue to increase. It's been a mere two days since the news release of the Warner Brothers buyout of Midway Games' assets; which is responsible for bringing you games like 'Mortal Kombat,' and already we have news about the supposed plans for a third Mortal Kombat film.
The SGV Tribune spoke to actor Chris Casamassa, who played the role of ' Scorpion' in the last two films. In the interview he discussed his plans to begin filming the third installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise this September. I've personally always felt as though video games never made very good material for films. There is usually too heavy of a focus on the action sequences, and we end up having little to no character development and a less than desired amount of dialogue. I do not personally see a third installment to the Mortal Kombat films faring well, considering 'Mortal Kombat: Annihilation' did not do very well at the box office. Not to mention, the sequel to the first film was released over ten years ago. I feel as though the window of opportunity for a third film has long passed, but maybe I am wrong? What do you guys think? Would you see the third Mortal Kombat film, or do you feel that this is one franchise that needs to die?
The 1st was probably the best Fighting Video Game to movie adaptation to date, but that's not saying alot. It still gets a 5/10 from me and I was a huge MK fan back in the day. The 2nd was ghastly. Lastly Chris Cassamassa and the rest of the original actors are mad old now. A third installment would definitely bomb at the box office since MK doesn't really have an audience anymore. Direct to DVD is the only way to go if they do make it. It's time for them to let this go.
Mortal Kombat always had good story potential in the games and very cool characters but none of that is very focused on in the movies or even their own game they could be great but always fall behind in their stoires in the games also they shouldn't make a third movie they should try a reboot at least.
They should totally do a new Mortal Kombat
but a revamp, Whole new Cast, Whole new story, but based on the game of course.

WHAT IT SAYS?!
REBOOT!!!!!!!!!! YAY! :D
They really should, its been too long!
Although I would like to see characters like Shinock and Quan Chi, but my movie collection would be SPECIAL EFFECT UNBALANCED..
You know what I think they should do first? A spin off surrounding Sub Zero, like the game :D
But anyway, if they are going to make a fallow up, here is what they should do:
Give us Liu Kang in his champion outfit! The red and black with the spiky wrist armor thingies and his Ryu wannabe head band thingy.
Sonja is tough! Enough Girly "Ah I'm gone break my nails" and "JAX HELP!" crap, give her her powers and make her the tough soldier she is...
Bring back Johnny Cage! It was a huge mistake to kill him in the second movie like if he was trash...
I want to see Kung Lao's decendant and I want to see the rivalry between him and Liu
DO NOT! kill character just for the heck of it! Like Sheeva, Rain, Jade and Johnny Cage in the movie... They died stupid deaths..
Give us the real Raiden!!! I want him in his chinese hat thingy and his warrior outfit, damit!!!
Bring in Kintaro! You jumped from Goro to Motaro, WTF?!
Kabal is a black dragon! He is not a dang cop! STUP!D! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! That got me so mad :P
There is more but I'm tired... Those are some of the things that need fixing...
we need this like we need a Nightmare on Elm Street remake , oh wait happening anyway oh well
the quality would have to be so much better than the previous two. I'm open to the idea though.. i mean in todays day and age movies are being kick started or revamped all the time.
I don't particularly care if they make a movie or not, even though video games tend to be -its-so-bad-its-good or just plain awful

But see thats the whole point right there. They aren't going to base tha new movie off the old. Basically a series reboot kinda like the Batman series. If they make it R-rated make it violent and stay true the actual story then I see it working.
This franchise needs to die, quickly. While the MK vs DC game was good, it just showed how dated these characters are. I know I never played as any of the MK guys.
Mortal Kombat was good for its time, but that time has passed.
I saw this on movie tome a few months ago, its mortal kombat devastation. from what i saw almost all of the cast members were the same
Yeah and it also supposed to be in production by 20th Century FOX, not WB (even though they own Midway now) and starts shooting in September according to Scorpion (Chris Casamassa).
FINALLY, they have been planning this movie for a freaking decade. I can't wait, the first movie was good, the second made me want to shoot myself in the face. But I think it should be a reboot, rather than a sequel because the second movie ruined the franchise.
I loved the old Mortal Kombat movies my only wish for the new one is that they have a more badass actor playing Sub-Zero like...TONY JAA!
