Origin
Scorpion is a quasi-immortal ninja avenger from hell, for his part, has reinvented a new conception about the death itself by transgressing the earthly disappearance of his body and his soul from the earth by a personal revenge. Scorpion becomes a tormented spectre who seeks revenge for the death of his entire family and relatives at the hands of a former enemy clan (named Lin Kuei), that provided services to several evil beings, among them Quan-Chi. Scorpion is known as a clever, excellent and hyper-skilled murderer (Ninja) with supernatural powers, whose role has been ambiguous since he has been malignant in the beginning, but then he reformed by all the pangs of conscience suffered in the past.
Scorpion is from a Japanese clan called the Shirai Ryu from Osaka. "Scorpion" was his code name, given to the greatest ninja in the clan. His father, whom used to be a member, initially forbade his son to join the clan because he didn’t want his son to live a life of a ninja, Hanzo however joined anyway in order to provide for his family. He was hired by Quan-Chi to find a map somewhere hidden in the Himalayas. Secretly, Quan Chi also hired Sub-Zero from the Lin Kuei, rivals and enemies of the Shirai Ryu.
Quan Chi thought if he hired two it would increase his chances of finding Shinnok's amilet, just in case if one of them fail. When Scorpion got to the Himalayas he encountered Sub-Zero got their at the same time, they both fought for their prize and Sub-Zero killed Scorpion.
An ultimatum to Sub-ZeroScorpion is fortunate, however that Sub-Zero was sent to the Netherrealm by Raiden to retrieve Shinnok's amulet. They both met and fought; Sub-Zero wins again and escapes. Scorpion follows Sub-Zero back to earth and participates in Shang Tsung's tournament. The two met again on Shang Tsung's boat and Scorpion grabbed Sub-Zero by the throat and said:
"You killed me in cold blood exactly two years ago, to this day, but my demons have allowed me to avenge my death. I could kill you at this moment, but I am not a murderer. We will meet at the tournament, and then, Lin Kuei warrior, you will pay with your life."
They didn’t meet in the tournament, but they did meet in the closing of Mortal Kombat. This time they battle to the death. Scorpion won the battle and avenged his death. Then, he violently blast into flames and ash, and is sent back to the Netherrealm.
An accomplished revenge: Sub-Zero was killed by ScorpionA year after that happened; Scorpion heard Sub-Zero was going to enter the second tournament. He was furious that Sub-Zero was still alive. Scorpion followed Sub-Zero to the realm of Outworld, this time Shao Kahn was the host. No body knows if they met in the tournament, but Scorpion saw Sub-Zero sparing the life of an opponent. Scorpion didn’t understand why, but Scorpion realizes that this is Sub-Zero's younger brother completing an unfinished mission. Scorpion then vowed to protect the younger Sub-Zero in retribution for killing his brother and returned to the Netherealm.
When Shao Kahn failed to take the souls from Earth's Hell during his invasion, Scorpion was released and Shao Kahn managed to convince him to fight on his side. However once Scorpion realized Sub-Zero was one of Shao Kahn's enemies, Scorpion turned on the emperor. After things returned to normal, Scorpion returned to the Netherealm.
When Shinnok prepared to attack the Heavens, Quan Chi offered Scorpion life in return for his service. Scorpion accepted. But, Quan Chi revealed grizzly news to Scorpion... that the Lin Kuei had massacred the Shirai Ryu and his family. Scorpion once again sought revenge and defeated Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero insisted of the Lin Kuei's innocence and Quan Chi appeared and confirmed this, revealing that he was the one that slaughtered his clan and family and, with the defeat of Sub-Zero, no longer had need of him and was about to return him to the Netherealm, but Scorpion grabbed Quan Chi and brought both of them to the deepest pits.
In the Netherealm, Quan Chi would be hunted, beaten and tortured by Scorpion. Quan Chi was unlikely to escape because his powers grew weaker in that realm, but Scorpion's powers grew stronger. While in searching for the sorcerer, Scorpion encountered the Earthrealm warrior Shujinko who proposed to the ninja to help him in his search in exchange for Scorpion training Shujinko in controlling his inner rage. Scorpion accepted and after Shujinko's training, together they search the realm for Quan Chi and eventually, they found him. Scorpion confronted the sorcerer and defeated him in combat but he was once again able to escape Scorpion's wrath. While on the run, Quan Chi made a deal with the Oni Drahmin and Moloch to protect him from Scorpion in return for helping them escape from this realm. Quan Chi eventually escaped and Scorpion followed after, but he would appear far away from Quan Chi and had to search for him again. He would encounter Quan Chi yet again and fights him but now a fully powered Quan Chi defeats Scorpion and throws him into an acid pool. Scorpion survived and continued his quest for vengeance, he eventually sneaks into Quan Chi's and Shang Tsung's fortress but is ambushed by Drahmin and Moloch. Although he puts a up a good fight against them, their combined might was too much for him and he is eventually defeated. Unable to eat or kill the ninja specter, the Oni decided to throw him in the Soulnado which Quan Chi had created and the souls attempted to tear Scorpion apart.
But, Scorpion managed to escape through the void before being ripped apart. There he met the Elder Lords who he never thought existed. From there he saw Raiden's sacrifice and Onaga's rise to power. The Elder Lords knew this would happen and turned Scorpion into their weapon and gave him a task: destroy Onaga. Scorpion accepted and returned to Outworld.
Scorpion kills OnagaIn his ending story, Scorpion would stalk Onaga relentlessly throughout the realms until he cornered him in the Nexus. Onaga sent an army of Tarkatan to kill him but they were no match for him. In the end, Scorpion kills Onaga by going through the Dragon King's body. It was in fact Scorpion, who was the true champion of the Elders, the Enforcer of their will, only he could save the realm and defeat the Dragon King.
In the Armageddon story, Scorpion who apprently completed the Elders task in exchange for them recovering his long dead clan. But they are now the undead and this enrages Scorpion and vows his vengeance against the Elders. He is approached by the fallen Elder, Shinnok and Daegon, who make a deal with him: kill the Edenian Prince Taven in Edenia and when they achieve power from Blaze, they will destroy the Elders. Scorpion acceptes, and when Taven arrives in Edenia, Scorpion sends the undead ninjas to kills him but Taven survives. In the end, Scorpion fights him in his lair him but he is eventually defeated. He is later seen participating in the final battle in Edenia joining the Forces of Darkness and during this battle he fights his long time rival Sub-Zero. When Scorpion defeats Blaze, his family and clan have returned and he is at last reunited with them. However, their reunion is cut short when Quan Chi kidnaps Scorpion's son and escapes the the Netherealm. Scorpion-Toasty FATALITY!Toasty : In this deadly move Scorpion takes off his mask, showing his hellspawned skull. Scorpion then breathes fire out of his mouth burning the rival alive, eventually making him explode in a fiery blood bath.
Spear Slice : Scorpion takes out a special knife, and slices the rival's throat, then the poor rival gets sliced in the hip in half, making the rival fall on the ground. This was changed in the game Mortal Kombat: Shoalin Monks. Scorpion carries the knife with a backhand angle and stabs, the rival in the stomach ripping it across the rival. Then Scorpion rips of the rival's body from the waist and up, and raises it high in the air for his glory in victory.
Annihilation : Scorpion teleports him and his opponent into his secret lair, in which an army of his clones (or Shirai-Ryu clan members that were revived) proceed to brutally beat the foe, usually fading into black with only the audio being heard.
Hand from Hell : Scorpion makes a gesture with his hand and unleashes a hell-portal beneath his opponent, and a skeleton-like hand drags him/her below.
Scorpion Sting : Much to his name, Scorpion morphs into a giant, literal scorpion and rips off the opponent's torso with his stinger.
Spear Shot : Scorpion tosses his kunai spear into the opponent's head, and, after attached, rips off the head.
Spine Rip : Scorpion brutally rips off the opponent's neck with their head and spine still attached.

Both Scorpion and Inferno Scorpion do this as a boss fatality.
Lava Pool : After making a lava/hell-portal beneath himself, Scorpion descends into it, while a second portal grabs his opponent into it. Moments later, the body is thrown out of a portal, turned into a mere skeleton.
Split Decision : Scorpion unsheathes his sword and slices his opponent's torso. He then cuts his opponent's throat and delivers a powerful kick which sends their torso and head off their body. As the head comes falling down, he slices it vertically in half.
Nether Gates : First, Scorpion shoots a spear at the foe's torso, then wraps the chain around their neck. A hell-portal behind the defeated opponent opens up (inferred to lead to the Netherrealm), and Scorpion kicks them into it. Then, a portal opens up above Scorpion, and the opponent with their skin melted off is seen hanging from the portal.
