Scarlett is a founding member (and the first female)of Special Counter-Terrorist Group Delta,Code-Named:GI Joe.Her prowess at all forms of combat,plus her leadership ability,have kept her at the forefront of the Team's operations since the beginning.

Scarlett is an expert with all NATO and Warsaw Pact small arms,as well as unconventional weapons including throwing knives and stars,the garotte,slings,and her preferred weapon-the crossbow.She has attended US Marine Corps Scout-Sniper School,the UK's Special Air Service training,as well as several classified Intelligence/Counter-Intelligence schools and exchange duty with the FBI.

Her first public action with the GI Joe Team was the "Lady Doomsday" incident.Dr. Adele Burkhart,physicist and peace activist,was traveling on a heavily guarded train to testify before Congress about an attempt to get Burkhart to work on a Doomsday Device.However,a small team of Cobra Commandos-disguised as reporters and led by the Baroness,kidnapped Burkhart and escaped .

Generals Austin and Flagg,at a secret sub-basement of the Pentagon,debated whether to stage a bogus rescue and let Cobra execute their hostage in the interest of sweeping the whole messy business,and the threat of Burkhart's secret knowledge,under the rug.

In the end-Austin and Flagg realized with the whole world knowing the US Government considered Dr. Burkhart an embarrassment,their only option was successful rescue.And that meant only one unit was suited for the task-GI Joe!

The Joes,including Scarlett,were practicing with their individual weapons when GI Joe Commanding Officer Hawk arrived at The 'Pit',GI Joe's secret underground Headquarters.Calling the Team for briefing-he outlined the plan to rescue Dr.Burkhart from Cobra's Caribean Island Fort.Six of the Joes,including Scarlett,would make a covert insertion from a US Navy submarine,using a rubber raft to get ashore and start softening Cobra's defenses before the Joe Team's vehicles landed in an amphipious assault of their own.After a quick firefight with a Cobra platoon on the beach,the Joes split into teams for their missions:Flash and Breaker were to neutralize Cobra Radar.Stalker,Grunt,and Short-Fuze were assigned to knock out the Cobra airfield,leiving only one light plane intact,while Scarlett and Snake-Eyes were assigned a preliminary recon of the Cobra Fortress.Their mission:to verify Dr.Burkhart's location,knock out the Fortress' Power Generator, and prepare to rescue her when the rest of the GI Joe Team attacked.

The Joes were detected by Cobra Radar,and Cobra Commander sent two heavy weapons platoons to "greet" them at the beach-but only after they slaughtered the inhabitants of the island's native village! The JJoe Ranger Specialist,Stalker used a JUMP jet pack to surprise and defeat the small Cobra force from the air. Upon landing on the beach,the Joes split into teams:Flash and Breaker to neutralize Cobra's Radar,Grunt Stalker and Short-Fuse to attack and cripple Cobra's airfield and aircraft-leaving only one light plane,and Scarlett and Snake-Eyes to recon the main fort and destroy it's power generator.
