(NOT) Spider-man to the rescue 0

Last month, issue #1 of the Scarlet spider came out, and I have to admit I was impressed. Chris Yost managed to introduce a solid character, give us his back story, and his motivations (and in some cases, the lack-thereof) and made an interesting anti-hero as he comes to grips with the freedom he won after so much suffering, though I do wish he kept that awesome beard. Issue #2 continues to deliver, though it serves mainly as a means to wrap up what was already introduced last time than introduc...

Just Five More Minutes 0

Highly Recommended!I cannot say enough about this new series! It is fantastic. I love that it is in a new setting, and not afraid to call it out or even make light of the fact. This time there was no "Texas heat" humor, but that didn't mean it wasn't on fire! (pun intended) Kaine's struggle continues... should he stay, or should he go. Find out in this issue! While I feel that the Salamander's appearance was somewhat fleeting, it did prove its point - Kaine has to willfully decide how "good" or "...

For our luck, this book didn't last 5 minutes 0

After a great issue #1, Kaine finally dresses up in his awesome new costume as he faces off against the Salamander, the first enemy of this brand new ex-villain turned hero. The issue starts with a flashback of Kaine’s past when the jackal tried to kill him for being defected and falling to a whole filled with what seems to be hundreds of dead gwen’s to remember us that Kaine is still haunted by this painful memories of abandonment. in the present, our hero tries to go to and start a new life as...

The Scarlet Spider, Great Power = No Responsibility 0

Coming straight out of Spider-Island, Kaine has donned the mantle of the Scarlet Spider. However, how will he live up to the name that Ben Reilly had created for himself with this super hero persona let alone live up to the name of being a "Spider" Man related character. As Kaine may not want to be a super hero and wants to just live his life, we are seeing bit-by-bit that Kaine is becoming everyone's favorite hero by just doing the right thing, even though he personally won't admit it. Written ...

"Houston. Go figure." 0

Synopsis: Things get hotter in Houston as Kaine takes on Salamander.Oh, Kaine. With your new lease on life, why run away from your responsibility? There's something fascinating about Chris Yost's approach to handling Kaine as Scarlet Spider. It's edgy, and I like that. Kaine wants to start over now that he has a chance to yet, he's compelled to help others. With Peter, I always love the internal monologues in his head which helps build up his character, and it works the same way with Kaine on a d...

Comic Review -- Scarlet Spider #2: After Life / Christopher Yost, 0

It took me forever to get a copy of Scarlet Spider #2--I hadn't started a pull list by that point. While I've since corrected that mistake, I still had to wait over a month for a second printing. Once I got it, I finally allowed myself to read the issues in sequence. Now, I can finally start reviewing them for you. There doesn't seem to be as much detail in the second printing variant cover--and explosion seems to have been replaced with simple orange space--but it's still a decent picture. Kaine...
