"Say the word Princess..."
Second Coming returns to X-Men Legacy for Chapter 8 of the event. With all the X-Men and the majority of the Mutant Population on Utopia, Bastions plans begin to unfold, with some consequences for the X-Men surely to follow. And speaking of problems, will Hope and Cable stay or will they jump to the future?
What You Need To Know.
X-Men begin to question whether Hope is worth the trouble and the cost. Hope tells Cable that she wasn't ready to come back, she just wanted to stop running. All major forms of transport off the island are cut off, along with having killed or taken out their transporters. Nightcrawler died at the end of chapter 5, bringing Beast back in chapter 6. The Good.
Before getting into the actual issue, praise is long overdue for the covers in this event. They've been spectacular and this cover does not disappoint. Hope and Cable interaction with each other the entire issue. The writing shows that they are two people who have gone through a lot together and have come to where they are at the moment because of that.
Mike Carey writes another strong issue, matching the pace of the series, while telling the story in his way.
Namor finally returns, it seems like the last time we saw him was chapter 2(?) so that was a welcome appearance.
Greg Land's art is consistent and for the most part enjoyable.
We finally see where this fits in the Marvel Universe, as a "team" shows up. It's blatant that this is post-Dark Reign and if not the very beginning of the Heroic Age, the time literally right before it.
The endings of each chapter in this series has made the reader want the next issue real soon (it also makes me glad that this isn't a monthly comic event, because it would probably kill the pace of the story).
The Bad
Maybe I missed something, but how did Rogue get back to Utopia, the last time I remember seeing her was before Nightcralwer died teleporting Hope to Utopia. No Kitty Pryde, No Mageneto.
