The Legion is made up of heroes from across the galaxy. The people of Titan are gifted telepaths and Imra Ardeen brings her abilities to the Legion as one of it's founders. Edit
Formation of the Legion
While enroute from Titan (a moon of Saturn) to Earth to join the Science Police, Imra telepathically detected a plot to assassinate inventor R.J. Brande. Working with Rokk Krinn of Braal (Cosmic Boy) and Garth Ranzz of Winath (Lightning Lad), the youngsters foiled the plot. Impressed with the trio of young heroes, Brande formed the Legion Of Super-Heroes.
Early Missions
Imra, newly dubbed Saturn Girl, discovered that she had not yet developed the mental sheilding necessary to filter out the minds of those around her. During one mission, she shut down the mind of Composite Man, loosing her sanity in the process. The love of Garth Ranzz helped heal her mind and soon after she accepted his proposal of marriage.
Lost Legion
Both Imra and Garth were among the Legionnaires stranded in another galaxy. She used her abilities to keep her team mates calm by creating a psychic projection of Apparition. When the deception was discovered, she lost her team mate's trust and resigned as leader.
2005 Reboot
In the current series, Titanians now only communicate telepathically having lost their vocal cords to evolution. Thus, Imra now only communicates by broadcasting her thoughts with the illusion of sound. However, only Lightning Lad seems to be aware of the fact that she's not really speaking. Any situation where telepathy is useless, Imra is rendered mute. Her mother is on the council of the United Planets. When the Legion was dealing with a ghost like Mon-El. Imra was able to hear his cries for help via telepathy. Making her instrumental in the locating him.
After her encounter with Mon-El, Saturn Girl has attempted to start a relationship with Lightning Lad, who she has flirted with since the beginning of the series. Since then they have begun a rocky relationship, greatly strained, ever since Garth became the leader of the Legion (after the disappearance of Cosmic Boy). As of lately, Imra has been shown to be taking a more leading role in the Legion ranks, even leading two separate missions.
On her first mission, Imra and her team, consisting of: Star Boy, Timber Wolf, and Invisible Kid. During which, they were sent to the moon of Triton, to help evacuate the populace from an extraterrestial invasion. Unfortunately, the invasion began earlier than they expected, and they were forced to deal with their forces. Saturn Girl proved to be a good addition to the team, dealing with multiple aliens. Unfortunately the aliens began to adapt to their variety of powers. But to no suprise they were able to defeat their opponents, with minor injuries.
On her second mission, Saturn Girl leads a team of Atom Girl, Ultra Boy, Chameleon, Colossal Boy, and Star Boy to Rimbor. To fight the aliens, first seen in her first mission, now known to be the Destroyers. While on the planet, the Legion was attacked by the Science Police. Looking to capture legionairre Ultra Boy. Luckily for Ultra Boy, the team was not willing to give up a member of their rank. In the process of protecting him, they are become fugitives. Knowing they can't hold them off forever, the Legionairres retreat, attempting to make it back to the teleportation pad.
POWERS
Saturn Girl (original) is a powerful telepath who can cast illusions, cause sedation, stun or kill people mentally with powerful mind bolts, cause physical damage with psionic objects, and even cause paralysis or cause someone to be in a catatonic state. SHe could block mental intrusions, and manipulate someone into doing her will, just by sheer willpower. ANd she is powerful enough to use her psionic powers in a strong offense to assimilate a telekinetic shield but is pure psionic energy, in which she could block powerful attacks. SHe could use Thought Blasts to mentally stun people or destroy their minds. Though this is only under immense pressure and stress. SHe could also Project her mind onto the astral plane.Saturn Girl is arguably one of the most powerful telepaths in the Dc Universe.
Television
Saturn Girl has appeared in DC's animated universe. First in Superman: The Animated Series, then later in Justice League Unlimited. She was voiced by actress, Melissa Joan Hart.
Saturn Girl makes regular television appearances now that the Legion of Superheroes has recieved their own cartoon. She was, however, forced into a coma at the beginning of the second series.
