Sanosuke is Kenshin's super-strong melee fighter/friend. Edit
He was originally known as the street fighter "Zanza" and desired to fight the Hitokiri Battousi, Kenshin Himura. After fighting him (And taking quite a few sound blows to the head) he decided to join Kenshin in his stay at the Kamiya Kasshin style dojo. He soon became one of his greatest friends.
