SuicideGirls Banned From San Diego Comic-Con?

" @lazystudent said:Violence is not damaging if you not that not the way you should became if you have self-control and do not mimic those actions, sadly some people are unable to understand that. Nudity is fine a sexual act is FAR different and it depends how that sexual act is portrait, is it love or plain pleasure and then there is the viewer who should ALWAYS know that he/she is seen a fictional fragment of reality and those actions should not be replicated, that is violence and outright sex with anyone." @courtney12490 said:Right? Graphic violence is damaging to the brain thats a FACT theres several disorders you can get from simply viewing such instances. Sure there are some people more susceptible to these conditions but universaly its considered that viewing or taking part in as little as one brutal act of violence can hughely damage your mental state. Self control is indeed in important but some people see things and replicate them. Sane people withself control arent the problem. Also u would be suprised the corilation between the parts of the brain that process images of sexual and violent nature and our responces to them, thast why there are people who mix the two types of input together.
As for gaming and comic as i said iam a fan of both genres which have aspects of both the themes in them, i dont feel that games and comics are as bad a visual imput as say graphic violence in an action movie since they have more of an element of realism interms of perception. Where as games and comics are more detachable from reality with the characters having no real connection to the pyshical world where as an actor playing a violent role is a real person and therefore our brians at a subconscious level process the movie as a result differently.
Bah, these "cons" are all exactly that. Attend one, and you'll have to stay in the shower for a week to wash the stench of naked corporate greed off yourself (the fanboy funk is another matter; that will never come off). This event has gone the way of E3: a venue for executive bean-counters to shamelessly hawk their latest wares. It's all glitz and glamour and no actual substance. So, who's getting the SG's booth this year, the Twilight groupies?
A lot of their stuff is also simply photograph based, the photos very rarely show any... down there action but do show breasts. I am not sure about the DVD's I was never aware that they did anything pornograhpic, I would say the images perhaps are filmed? who knows." @Sparda said:
" Can.....someone tell me what Suicidegirls are, exactly? I get the idea that they're pornography or something, and I read their wikipedia page but I still don't really get it. Is it porn of fictional characters or something? Why is this even at Comic-Con, if so? I'm confused. "the SuicideGirls are one of the three essentials to a fulfilled life, the other two beings comics and (ACCESS DENIED) they are not fictional characters, they're a group of pin-up models who excel at being the opposite of the stereotypes so they are like wild partiers, lots of tattoos and piercings, those kind of things...they're like feminists, only naked "
The fact that SDCC have banned them for some BS they can not back up tells me what I have thought of the show for some time, that they are turning into a money making industry and nothing else.
I think CV should start boycotting the bloody show lol
"they're a group of pin-up models who excel at being the opposite of the stereotypes so they are like wild partiers, lots of tattoos and piercings, those kind of things...they're like feminists, only naked "
Or (more accurately) they're a group of attention-starved wannabe starlets who take their clothes off for a living. The name 'Suicide Girls' is just a brand name, but it doesn't change the fact that they're just strippers.
Having tattoos, I sometimes get chatted up by morons who tell me I should be a Suicide Girl. What? I should be a talentless hack who just happens to have tattoos? Hell no!
It amuses the hell out of me that those trollops are 'banned'.
just for the record, there are NO sex acts on the site or in any of their licensed merchandise.
there is no penetration. the closest thing to a sex act is the occasional set with two girls, where you'll get some implied action, but no actual contact that's more explicit than kissing or touching a boob.
it's just boobs, man. being naked isn't a "sex act". if you don't like them that's fine, and if you don't think they should be at con that's fine, but running around saying they force girls to do sex acts on camera is just plain ridiculous. not to mention, girls often have to work really hard to become a SG; it's completely voluntary. and if and when they no longer want to be involved in the site, then they leave. simple as that. how the hell do you force someone on the other side of the world to get naked and then send you pictures?
since when does naked = porn?
Uh... they aren't banned.

Seems like a lot of people are completely ignoring this bit."No one is banned...My understanding is that SuicideGirls didn't have a booth and there is a 400+ waiting list...We got a report that they were handing out material that was not all ages appropriate. It's happened before where companies have not complied with our standards ... Does that mean that they're banned for life? No, we don't do that. Next year could be a different thing."
Doesn't have any effect on me if they're not making an appearance. I personally find a real relationship with a woman much more fulfilling than this sort of thing.
" Uh... they aren't banned. When I spoke to Missy, she was told that she and the SuicideGirls had been banned. Did they say it? Is SDCC going back on their original statement? They obviously told Missy Suicide one thing, and the LAWeekly another, Maybe they didn't want to look bad. That's what the rest of the article is about.

"umm... did you read that on a Christian website lol? Cause not to be rude but that is a bunch of crap, people are either naturally inclined towards violence or they are not, watching porn no matter what type does not make people go out and rape women... I can tell you this as I have studied psychology, worked with the police about young violent offenders and sexual assailants, there attacks come from a deep seated psychological desire to inflict harm, usually this extends from their childhood or their own abuse.... nothing to do with porn.
I'd like to point out that pornographic material can be considered dangerous in the sense that it has in some cases, awakened a more violent side in male activity, to the point of sexual abuse or plain flat out rape.

Read over Babs article she did say that they were part of Cassie Hack series." What do Suicide Girls have to do with comics in the first place? "
And if you're going on that route then rap music and heavy metal poison the minds of teenagers all over the country, right?
What about comic books? They're violent right? If I read a comic book am I going to put on a cape and jump off a building because Superman does it?

I can not believe how ridiculous this all is. Regardless if some one is taking full frontal shots or hiding, as some one said "down there", it is still considered porn. It's comic-con. Notice how there is nothing to do with porn in the title? Get over it and stop being a bunch of pervs.
They have a comic book. It's published by Devils Due. They have the right to be there according to SDCC's guidelines, unless they really did commit a crime." So? Just because a company that's pure basis is centered around pinups and porn, has a comic, at least to me, doesn't give them a "right" to be there. Last time I checked, penthouse has some nifty articles about modern technology. You don't see them having a booth at the world's fair. Granted I do realize this is only my opinion... it's just, deep down I feel comics, like the one you are mentioning, are ruining the very fun foundations that the comic industry stands on. Do we really need sex appeal in every aspect of art to enjoy it?" @xxSadisticSmilexx said:

Quit ranting at people.
" a valid company who have been involved in comics are being pushed aside due to their slightly risqué nature"Nowhere in the article is it implied that this is the case. They are allegedly being "pushed aside" for selling adult content to minors without carding.
" @.Mistress Redhead. said:true, I am stating it based on the mixed up nature of what was said, to me the underlying issue is their supposed pornographic nature." a valid company who have been involved in comics are being pushed aside due to their slightly risqué nature"Nowhere in the article is it implied that this is the case. You are however correct in saying that it was not stated in the atricle :)

" Fair enough. I didn't exactly mean to rant. Sorry if I came off that way. "lol dont worry we all rant ;p
" @Vortex13: I see your point. However as the article stated, they were selling adult DVDs. So I think there is more to it then just promoting their comic, even if it is slightly on the agenda. "Yeah that is true and if they were not carding they should be fined. You have to realize though, as far as I know, that their videos aren't these hard core things. At least I don't think they are. Also there is tons of hard core pornography on the internet that is easily accessed for youngsters. So I doubt it would be something very new to those people and if they are carding I don't see a problem. Though I do get what you're saying and I do understand that there is a difference between the scantily clad cosplayers and porn stars, but just think about how there are booth babes. Funny story about booth babes that is completely irrelevant to this story. My dads company had been approached by another company that offers them for this software engineering and computer thingy that was basically several companies offering their services too bigger companies. I just find it highly amusing that there would be booth babes at something like that lol. My dads boss declined the offer however which is probably for the best lol.
I agree." If they actually sold one of the DVDs without checking ID then I see no problem banning them. "
Though there's no evidence provided that a person associated with the Suicide Girls company did in fact sell adult material to a minor, this story seems like Missy is more concerned about making a few extra dollars or too expecting from her nudey-girl website, than being involved with what Comic-Con is supposed to be about. Why can't they just have fun the same way as everyone else?
I don't mean to seem so prude. But I also think products for sale at Comic-Con, should be provided to suit the main demographics requirements anyway, which would mean no sexually explicit material included. That's what Adult-Con (etcetera) is for.
I recently watched the Suicide Girl's dvd with some friends, as a girl, I found it slightly liberating, but also kind of raunchy.
True as a far as something that is considered "adult entertainment" is concerned it's pretty tame, they show their breasts and model nude but they really refrain from showing their
"downtown areas" if you know what I mean ;)
I don't think they are terribly inappropriate, but then again how many younger kids and children go to Comic Con? If there are a lot, I'm not surprised that having them there would be weird. If I were a parent there I'd steer my kids away from the suicide girls. The name "Suicide" paired with scantily clad girls who on their dvd have photoshoots entitled "How to Roll a Joint" and "How to Fake an Orgasm" and "How to do a Strip Tease" are not really what I would want little kids seeing.
That is just my two cents. They are really hot girls, don't get me wrong haha.
"Their comic" was being background characters in one Hack/Slash issue two years ago, so I'm pretty sure your theory is correct." @Vortex13: I see your point. However as the article stated, they were selling adult DVDs. So I think there is more to it then just promoting their comic, even if it is slightly on the agenda. "
You are correct. There is no sex of any kind in the videos. They just get naked and rub their boobs to an annoying degree.
There aren't even any men in their videos. It's just them doing "How-To" videos about regular everyday tasks that for some reason they end up getting naked and rubbing their bodies and sometimes eachother. It's all kind of silly, but I'm a girl saying this, I'm sure the dudes out there love their videos.
As far as them being at ComicCon, they really have no reason to be, but I've heard that half the booths out there aren't relavent either, and I can't blame them for wanting to pimp their business at a gigantic event that is going to sell merchandise and get their name out there.
