I have to admit, had it been me, I probably would have been equally as excited as she seemed to be in the latest interview with Sci Fi! Mila Kunis, best known for her comedic acting roles (That '70s Show and last year's Forgetting Sarah Marshall, for example) has really delved into a new genre with her role in the upcoming film, "The Book Of Eli." Following the success of the panel at comic con, and the fantastic poster that was made by comic book artist Chris Weston, I thought it would be worth reporting.
"I get to flip a car," Kunis said in a group interview over the weekend in Beverly Hills, Calif., where she was promoting the comedy Extract. "I get to throw a grenade into a convoy of cars and explode them. I get to do other fun things that I can't talk about. The trailers are so small in comparison to how cool the movie is. I've got to tell you, the movie is really, really cool."
She may be better known at making people laugh, but her role in Eli is not her first action role. During the interview she discussed her first action role in last year's film Max Payne where she played the role of the assassin, Mona Sax. This time around, Kunis says her character has a lot more depth and from what I gather, it may also be a bigger role.
The plot line more or less takes place in the aftermath of a global disaster and follows the travels of the primary character, Eli, who is played by Denzel Washington, as he travels protecting a book.
"My character in that is pretty awesome, I have to say," Kunis said. "She starts off very young, very naive, very sheltered, but also very hungry to learn about life. What can I say? [She] gets inspired by Denzel Washington's character and goes on this journey with him throughout the film. It takes place in maybe four or five days, and she grows up so fast and so quickly and almost becomes a woman and takes over. She was a beautiful, beautiful woman to play."
From what I can tell, it seems like a very dark and interesting film which I am sure will be one to look forward to.Are you planning on seeing the film? The Book of Eli is set for release on Jan. 15, 2010.
