Book Review: Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope

It's hard to believe it's time for San Diego Comic-Con once again. Last year documentarian Morgan Spurlock joined forces with Stan Lee, Joss Whedon and Harry Knowles for the upcoming movie Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope. The movie itself is set to be released sometime this Fall but recently DK Publishing released a hardcover book to accompany the movie.

Featuring hundreds of photographs by photographer Alba Tull (who has worked with Guillermo del Toro, Bryan Singer, The Edge and others), this book is a great way to relive last year's Comic-Con, even if you were unable to attend.

Opening the book gives a good idea what the convention was like.

The book isn't just about pictures. The pictures are absolutely stunning but there is some more information as well. The concept is Spurlock's attempt to dive into the massive yearly phenomenon. People hear about Comic-Con and there has been several of images and video content (which we provide each year as well) but it's still hard to get an actual idea of what being there is like. The movie will follow seven different people to view Comic-Con through their eyes as well as mini-interviews with celebrities and attendees (including comic book website editors).

Along with the images in the book, you get to find out what Comic-Con means to them. You can hear from Stan Lee, Kevin Smith, Grant Morrison, Seth Green, Todd McFarlane along with several other actors and cosplayers.

Whether you're looking for a classy comic-related coffee related book or a way to experience what goes on during San Diego Comic-Con, this is a great reasonably-priced book that should be in your collection. Normally I only admire books like this at the book store. I don't normally feel the urge to purchase books with photographs, no matter how high quality they are. How often will you actually look at them. This book is a different story. For those that were there, it's a great way to relive the experience. For those that were not able to attend, it's a really nice way to get a taste for what went down.

they have two pages dedicated to the Community (the tv show) panel but luckily not every non comic related panel is in there, like NCIS or Psych, etc.

It seems to be taller and whiter than Babs - not that there's anything wrong with Babs!
I'm just saying, definitely not her!
