SDCC 2012: Ed Boon Interview
I'm psyched. Mortal Kombat 9 was a blast and this is looking like it'll have the potential to be every bit as fun. I just really hope they pack it with as much content as MK9. It was insanely impressive how expansive the story mode was and the challenge tower was a good time. Regardless of that, this looks like it'll provide some epic couch multiplayer.
I loved MK9. Its a great fighting game. It brought the series back to its roots, which what made it so great. I was a bit nervous for this game cause sometimes games based off comics or movies do alright, except for The Batman Arkham games, those are great. Last time Ed Boon did something DC Characters it was enjoyable but MK9 blew it away like Superman's super move in the Injustice gameplay footage. I'm going to buy this game.
@sethysquare: NetherRealm was merely one portion of Midway, when it went bankrupt it was sold off in chunks. Warner Bros. bought Ed's team and Ed named them NetherRealm Studios.
@G-Man Thanks for asking my question. Curiously enough, Ed avoided mentioning the stage transitions which are just as time consuming as the Super Moves, ah well. I wouldn't be surprised if those were made faster behind the scenes before release. Good interview!
He seriously wouldn't use Hawkman based on that one little thing? That seems odd. I'm not a Hawkman fan myself, but I know a lot of people who would love to see him in this game. If DC have had some say as to who gets top billing, I'm guessing Aquaman and Green Lantern will be announced soon enough. If so, that would make me a very happy man :)
Midway...Midgard. Thor debuted a year after Hawk-man (V 2.0), and I don't know why Hawk-man isn't more popular, he is sort of DC's Thor in a way. Joe Kubert did an amazing job back in the day, maybe the new 52 Hawk-Man needs a great artist and some new writing team. I still like the character, specially in JLU & Smallville. :D
