3D Is a fad, Ive seen the statistics on film revenue in regard to 3D since avatar's release, and its going doooowwn.

I would say bollocks myself. This is not good news for me as I consider Whedon to be vastly overrated. I was really, really hoping these rumours were just that; rumours. Alas, it is not to be.

Definitely interesting news that Whedon is directing.  I wonder what kind of story he will craft.

I'm interested to see how this works out. I'm in general a fan of his work and I think he usually has very good ideas and good dialog. 
 
Nothing on this kind of scale though and it seems Joss usually has bad luck with big studios. It's pretty cool they're taking a chance on him.

I like Joss Whedon, and it will be interesting to see what he does with the kind of budget this movie will have. At the same time, I'm worried that everyone will be incredibly glib, especially Renner as Hawkeye and RDJ as Tony Stark.

This makes me unbelievably happy.

Joss Whedon is awesome, but he can write some really strange things... I'm leaning towards him writing a story with the Skrulls as the main bad.  He has a thing for otherworldly people
