Across the twenty-second century Sov-Block, enemies of the state are sent to Siberian work camps as convict labourers, or 'zeks', to toil in the uranium mines and suffer a slow, agonising death.
Lieutenant Anna Tershkova, formerly of the Sov military, is one such prisoner, but has been offered a deal, which would allow her release...together with Baryshnikov (a mad brute of a prisoner) and Captain Rykov, they are the Samizdat Squad - sent on a Dirty Dozen-style mission into the ruins of East-Meg One.
