Is Sam connected to Richard Rider?
No, Sam's dad was part of the Nova Corps 20 or so years ago and quit when Sam was born. The only connection he has to Richard Rider is that they're both human born, Earth based Novas.

This. His dad's name was Jesse by the way. I believe him and Richard Rider were also different ranks within the Nova Corps.
Black Helmet Nova and Golden Dome Nova are two different set of corps. One is basically the police (black) and the other are protectors and soldiers (gold). I really hope to see Richard come back, hopefully in infinity. They did bring back Quill from the cancerverse, so why not Nova Prime?

Hmm, is this confirmed? I thought that the black Novas were 'Supernovas', basically black-ops Novas that do the missions too dangerous for ordinary gold Novas.
@veshark: you're gonna tell me that Sam Alexander can take on an Annihilus fleet and 1up everything that Richard Rider has done?? I remember seeing somewhere that they are somewhat "black ops" but have nowhere near the power of a golden domer.

Um ooohkay....what? I was just asking because I read somewhere that the Supernovas did black-ops missions, I never said that they had the power of golden Novas. I was just asking, since I've never read Nova at all, and you seem to be a fan.
Supernova's are the black ops nova's as above stated, they are the kill then ask questions part of nova's the ones who do what has to be done, whereas the gold ones are the "posterboys" of the corps, the goody two shoes
There's no connection to Rich. 1 issue to go in Infinity to see if marvel brings back the true Nova.
