    The Awakening Part One was like reading X-Men meets Weird Western Tales, although I never saw Hex or Scalphunter come up against something like Darius... The comic opens with a gunfighter shooting down townsfolk in a hail of blood `n bullets, leaving the bodies in his wake he jumps on his horse, heading toward the townships of Salem.     As opposed to the zero issue, the story here does a much better job of introducing the character.  All too often witches are shown as a kind of malevolent force with years of study behind them in the dark art, but here it shrugs such cliches aside and imagines a young girl who doesn't know her own powers living in a suspicious town.  Things start to transpire against her that she will soon learn, though it is more like someone than some thing, as an unidentified villain arrives that seemingly wa...
