    Origin

    Jane Dodge was a pilot flying over Africa when she crashed her plane. Having her clothing destroyed in the crash Jane is forced to make clothes out of a the skin of a dead giraffe. Soon afterwards, she saves a local tribe from Nurla the white goddess of a local tribe, while the the grateful native villagers would be appointing her as Rulah the Jungle Goddess. Her kraal is located in the Congo Basin jungle.

    Unlike many of her contemporaries e.g. Sheena, Tiger Girl or Camilla, Rulah is the only jungle girl leading character who has jet black hair. Physically she is very athletic, agile and very skilled while using a dagger (her main weapon) and also an expert in hand-to-hand combat and wrestling. Usually her main enemies were villainous white explorers, mad scientists, cruel jungle tyrants, local Amazons, pygmies and all sorts of wild jungle beasts (tigers, wolves, crocodiles, gorillas, etc.). Usually her adventure companions are Saber the pet panther and Tombo her little apprentice.

    Creation

    Rulah's real name was changed from Jane Dodge to Joan Grayson.

    Awards and Honours

    Rulah was ranked 79th in Comics Buyer's Guide Presents: 100 Sexiest Women in Comics.
