Who drew the Ziggy Stardust sketch? It is awesome on so many levels.

Actually, inferiorego, I posted that Paul Pope sketch a long time ago. Some of the new ones are Sam Keith, Dan Clowes...I think there's some way to tell which ones I just added.

The closer to the front they are, the more recent they are, I was just blown away with the Ziggy one though

wow, there are some awesome sketches in there...

the Mark Brooks one is absolutely stellar

I love the Mark Buckingham one because it's of Death ^_______^

the Eddie Campbell one is pretty cool but I've never heard of him before, however upon going to his page I see that picture is of an actual character

the Dave Johnson one made me laugh

the Joshua Middleton one is beautiful but I feel like I've seen it before...

and the Neil Gaiman one I loved not only because I worship him, but because it is worth a good chuckle and it makes me feel better about my own artistic ability :P

Ack! Pfftt... jealousy!!  Sam Keith fish monster and uber cute Jill Thompson girl!  Art Adams' clown is scary, and Josh Middleton's girl is so cute but looks too much like X-23 ;)

I knew you'd go for that one. ;)

And both you and aztek hit one something. Middleton's women are beautiful, but they all seem to blend into the same person after awhile.

Heh heh... you little tease ;)

True, but she's still prettier and better than most examples of comic art. I was looking at some old X-Men the other day and I was disturbed by how Andy Kubert's women and men all had the same pointy face!  And at least Middleton's style is unique (instead of tracing porn mags on a light-box ala Greg Land ;)

I got gypped! I went to Dave Land's table, and all I got was this lousy death's-head. :(

@xerox-kitty:
I just threw Neil in there to be silly, but I have an idea for a new contest, "The best sketches by comic book writers!" I have some that are just...I don't have the words. :)

I'll post the entries next weekend. I can't decide who should get the prize, the best or the worst. :) :) :)

Sounds funny... we don't expect the writers to sketch.  I look forward to it :)

You're one of those people with a lot of points, xerox-kitty, so you can probably answer this question...

It's about the part of this site that is about one's "super-life"...

Does one get points for making up stuff about themselves?

#17 Posted by xerox_kitty (15762 posts) - - Show Bio

Sorry, Roxanne, I don't know!  I haven't written one, so I was wondering the same thing...

I just heard from aztek the lost. No points awarded for a super-life.

Apparently, it's an RPG thing and I'm not a gamer, so it does me no good. :(

#19 Posted by xerox_kitty (15762 posts) - - Show Bio

Suits me fine, since I'm not a gamer either.  I did think of writing a silly one though, just the for the hell of it... but I tend to get caught up with other things instead.

I was thinking of taking the identity of Sam's fish monster or David's blind artist and writing something really goofy.

BTW, I wrote a little bio for Sam. Now  just have to find a decent photo of him. The one that's there is awful.

Another Neil Gaiman sketch for aztek the lost.

That's such an old photo of Sam Kieth!  We'll have to stalk him at conventions to get a more recent image ;)  Niec work on his page, btw. I added links where & when I could :)

Nice Dream image.  The white on black look is very effective.

That sketch was done on the endpapers of my A Game of You hardcover. There was a dedication on the top of the image that I blacked out on the scan. Private, ya know. ;)

I've been asking around to my artist friends who go to a lot of conventions and take a lot of pictures, but nobody has a picture of Sam. None of them even know him very well. I guess he's not much of a social butterfly.

O.K. ... here goes. The next time you hear from me, I'll have the contest up. I'm going to cheat a little and put up a sketch by Judd Winick. He's an Alan Moore type of case. He started out as a cartoonist, but then dropped the artwork decades ago to concentrate on writing.
