The only person with the creds to write it is Alan Moore, and he hung up 'Shach a while ago.
The dude already died(and no way in hell is he coming back) so there wouldn't be any suspense to the book. It would just be Rorshach not bathing and beating up bad guys. There are enough books like that

OH! You know what would be great, if we just pretend he never died! Then we could place him in modern times. That would be perfect! I know exactly how it would go:
    Rorschach's Journal:
December 24, 2008: Moving into Christmas again. No girlfriend since 1984, last Christmas with Pam was in 1983. Who knows why. I am not ugly or too weird. No sex since July 1990 either (I was 29). No ----! Over eighteen years ago. And did it maybe only 50-75 times in my life. Getting to think that a woman now would just, uh, get in the way of things. Isolated. I have extra money and enjoy traveling, too, wtih my 25-30 days of vacation. LA was the best! But going alone is not too fun. Invited to a party on Christmas day tomorrow. Seems about 15-25 people will actually show. I like her parties; I can meet new people and talk. Got the next 8 days off. I should have exit plan done and practiced by then. I know nothing will change, no matter how hard I try or what goals I set.

    Rorschach's Journal:
December 30, 2008: While driving I radio surfed to a talk show. The caller was a 30ish black man who was describing the despair in certain black communities. According to him, life is cheap there because you are going to die anyway when you get old. It is the quality of life that is important, he said. If you know the past 40 years were crappy, why live another 30 crappy years then die? His point was they engage in dangerous behavior which tends to shorten the lifespans, to die now and avoid the next 30 crappy years, using my example. The host got sarcastic and ended the call instead of trying understanding his point. Agreement wasn't necesary. I put music back on. But it was an interesting, and useful point for me to hear.

I think it's a cool idea nothing can go wrong with a character as cool as Rorschach. A prequel adventure I'm picturing. It would be increadible if the right writer did it.No one could replace Alan Moore though. I would definitely buy the story or series.

When Watchmen was released there were two spinoffs proposed by DC:  Rorschach's Journal and Comedian's War Diary.  Both were shot down by Moore and GIbbons.

    I have to agree.

My initial thoughts were that I would mind seeing an ongoing detailing Rorschach's early days as a crime fighter, but after a few seconds I realized that it would probably be awful.

He was my favourite character in Watchmen, but no thanks.

Good luck finding a writer and artist willing to risk stabbing Moore in the back for that job.

Hrm.  Expect him to become one of the typical, boring anti-heroes he inspired and to lose everything that made him unique if a prequel is ever made.

I say Yes....Stories are being remade, retold and rewritten all the time...

The Watchmen put alot of people in prison.....There's the best place to start...
The complete history of the Watchmen instead of the Flashes from the book & movie.. another...
A complete rewrite of the series to bring it up to 2000's..... They do that alot..
Rorschach's childhood and teenage years....a mini series possibly...
Continuation of the original book.........and don't say it can't be done....

As a writer one could easily write that John stripped Rorschach of the flesh to
show Walter the beauty of the energy we're all made from, and to keep him from exposing the lie..
Finding that he's the new life John considered creating.......
During which Rorschach convinces Dr. Manhattan to take a more permanent role
in watching over the Earth...BOOOM......Manhattan restores Rorschach's human form, taking them
back to Earth to find 10 years have passed, and the New Watchmen are led by Owl and Silk..  ..
    Miniseries gap.....

And don't forget....Adrian still lives with the power of Dr. Manhattan in his hands.....

    Rorschach is nothing like Batman......
He seethes at criminals where Batman just hates them....
Rorschach hates the people that idly let crime happen just as much.....
As Daniel says, "He's a Lunatic...."
His alter ego is a guy on a street preaching the end is near....

    I say this for sure....
If they can remake "The Crow" movie...
They can write more to the Watchmen Universe....

hell no, Watchmen should be left alone. It's one of the greatest stories ever in history, I wish Snyder would have left it alone to, but let's just stop here.

It would be pretty cool if it was like a prequel, like The End Is Nigh.
