No. He's not talking to the viewer. It's his own personal thoughts. Really, if anything, he's speaking to the news paper that he gave his journal to (sorry, can't remember the name).

What Deadpool does is breaking the Fourth Wall.

R's journal is an example of first person narration.

No, because it is not directed to us and he has no concept of any realty beyond his own.  It is a first person narrative in context to his perception of himself in his own reality.

    No, it's not.

    1. This is the origin of the fourth wall: on a film set, there are "three walls" where the actors are. There is a fourth, hypothetical wall where the cameras, director, and sometimes audience is.  If a character looks in that direction, and speaks directly to that area, then that is "breaking the fourth wall."
    2. Are you breaking the wall if you were to write in a journal? Who are you speaking to?
    3. Is a thought bubble breaking the fourth wall?

No. He's just writing his thoughts down in a journal. In the end, he mails it to the New Frontiersman. That is to whom he was talking to.

    1. I agree that the best definition of breaking the "Fourth Wall" is Zack Morris from 'Saved By The Bell,' the children in "Funny Games," The Crypt Keeper, and people argue that Joker does so in Batman: Arkham Asylum with his comments like, "I'm watching all of you. Yes, even you!"

2./3. While it is a meta-reference to an incredibly personal and approachable activity, journaling or internal narration are not breaking the fourth wall.
