Dark Tower: Treachery (Midnight Variant)

Marvel Unveils DARK TOWER: TREACHERY Midnight Opening Variant!

Seeing this image just brought back memories from reading the series.  You can't forget about the doors.  This looks like a really cool cover.  It's simple yet conveys so much.  I wouldn't mind having it but I don't think I'll be going to a midnight selling of the issue to get it.  Actually, I'm not even sure where the nearest retailer selling at midnight would be.  It seems crazy but great that people will actually go out and buy the Stephen King comic adaptions at midnight.  I do wonder how many are printed.  It'd be a total bummer to go out and not be able to pick up the issue.

Marvel is proud to unveil the cover to Dark Tower: Treachery #1 Midnight Opening Variant! This revolutionary reverse gatefold cover features the iconic Dark Tower keyhole...but what lies behind this front cover? Available exclusively at comic book stores participating in the September 10th midnight opening for the hotly anticipated sequel to Dark Tower: The Long Road Home, this variant cover is a must-have for any Dark Tower fan! The all-star team of writers Robin Furth & Peter David, artists Jae Lee & Richard Isanove, joined by special guest variant cover artist Gabriele Dell’Otto, reunite for the next story of Roland Deschain and his ka-tet, but after recent events, their worst nightmares may become reality!

It’s the next exciting chapter in the Dark Tower epic and no comic fan can afford to miss Dark Tower: Treachery #1 (of 6)! And be sure to check out Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born Premiere HC, collecting the best-selling, critically acclaimed Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born #1-7, in stores now!

Dark Tower: Treachery #1

Dark Tower: Treachery Debuts In September

I'm so glad there's another series coming up.  I can't get enough Dark Tower.  Robin Furth made an interesting little comment at Comic-Con.  Not sure if she meant to say what she did or if it was a big deal.  I don't want to spoil things but it could get interesting.

The critically-acclaimed comic book series, inspired by Stephen King’s seminal Dark Tower, returns with the follow up to this year’s national best selling sequel with Dark Tower: Treachery #1 (of 6).  After every best-selling issue of the fan-favorite Dark Tower: The Long Road Home, the all-star team of writers Robin Furth & Peter David, artists Jae Lee & Richard Isanove, joined by special guest variant cover artist Gabriele Dell’Otto, present Roland Deschain and his ka-tet after they’ve safely returned back to Gilead.  However, all is not well on the homeward front.  Roland has held onto the evil Maerlyn’s Graprefruit and grown obsessed with gazing into its pinkish depths regardless of the negative effects it has taken on his body.  And what the young gunslinger sees brings may be more frightening than the darkest of nightmares!  Meanwhile, Roland’s father and a posse are hunting down John Farson and the Big Coffin Hunters after they threatened the life of his son.  And when he finally finds them, all may not go as well as expected.

To celebrate the release, Dark Tower: Treachery #1 goes on sale at 12:01 am, September 10th, at participating comic stores around the nation.  Plus, Marvel is proud to announce they will be releasing a special top-secret gatefold midnight variant which is bound to please all Dark Tower fans.

Don’t dare to miss the series that everyone’s anticipating and never fails to wow the critics!

“The Dark Tower is some of Marvel's best work…They're delivering the next chapter in September. As the comics continue to venture farther out of King's original realm, my excitement continues to grow.” –Jesse Schedeen of IGN.com

“Jae Lee's haunting artwork and Stephen King's crumbling, dusty postapocalyptic world make for a powerful experience” – E.A. Solinas of TheFullReview.com

“The scripting by David is very strong, with a great sense of character…The artwork by Lee and Isanove remains spectacular as always…I'm really looking forward to the next announced Dark Tower series, to see what comes next in this gripping and thrilling tale.” – Adam Chapman of Comixtreme.com

No surprise here.  I still want a full fledge adaption in comic format.  Please please please?

In 2007, Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born topped sales charts with the release of its first groundbreaking issue, inspired by Stephen King’s renowned Dark Tower novels. Helmed by an all-star creative team including Peter David, Robin Furth, Jae Lee, Richard Isanove and Chris Eliopoulos, Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born #1 ushered in midnight comic store openings, drove many readers to comic stores for the first time and was hailed as a classic by fans & critics alike. Marvel is proud to announce that the follow-up series has done the same, as Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #1 debuted as the #1 comic in March!

“The response to Stephen King’s Dark Tower comic book series has been phenomenal,” says Ruwan Jayatilleke, Vice President of Development, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. Creating compelling graphic fiction such as this is no mean feat. Marvel would like to thank not only the creative team for its inspired efforts and incredible perseverance but also the readers and retailers for supporting this epic series and being so vocal about it!”

“Dark Tower comics represent a creative perfect storm of sorts, and I can't imagine future installments without every last one of them,” raved Jesse Schedeen of IGN.Com. “Jae Lee's vision of Mid-World is beautiful and terrifying and ethereal all at once. Richard Isanove continues to prove he might well be the best colorist in the industry.”

Adam Chapman of ComixTreme.Com echoed these sentiments, saying, “I'm immensely intrigued and enjoying this series, and can't wait for the next issue to see what happens next.”

The action and excitement continue in Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #2, on-sale now, and Dark Tower: The Long Road Home #3, on sale this May! Plus, don’t miss Dark Tower: Treachery #1, arriving in September following the exciting conclusion of The Long Road Home!

Plus, don’t miss Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born Premiere HC, collecting the first sold-out limited series that was a national best-seller and topped critics’ charts as one of the best comics of 2007!

It's great that he's taking part in the comic adaption.  It shows that he really cares and isn't just willing to sell off the rights and leave it in the hands of others.

Legendary author Stephen King will give a live interview to discuss the state of comics tied to the release of Marvel Comics’ Dark Tower: The Long Road Home, the second story arc in his ground-breaking epic series Dark Tower on NPR’s esteemed program Talk of The Nation this Wednesday, March 12th from 2:30-3:00 PM EST.

“Marvel Publishing is grateful to Stephen for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk about The Dark Tower comic series and comic books as a whole,” says Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Entertainment Vice President of Development. “We’re excited that this will offer a chance to introduce this phenomenal epic---and medium of entertainment--- to NPR’s listeners as well as reward loyal Dark Tower fans with some highly entertaining radio!”

The second installment of the best-selling, critically acclaimed comic book series hit stores on March 5th with the continuing saga of the last Gunslinger in Dark Tower: The Long Road Home. The series reunites the all-star creative team of Dark Tower expert Robin Furth, The New York Times best-selling author Peter David, Eisner Award-winning artist Jae Lee and fan favorite illustrator Richard Isanove, who turned the first series Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born into the comic book event of 2007 -- making it one of the year’s top selling series.

Exploring a chapter in Roland's life that is only hinted at in the novels, Dark Tower: The Long Road Home is the must-have that no comic book or Dark Tower fan can miss, and no fan of comics can afford to miss King’s live interview on NPR!

Here's comes another Wednesday.  Who's looking forward to the next Dark Tower series?  I am.  Also we'll see more Spidey and Cable in the future.  Maybe they should put Deadpool and Bishop in the series so they can do a "Three Men and a Baby" thing.  Hope Cable's good at changing diapers.  Actually I hope there are diapers in this future time period he took the kid to.  But more importantly, what the heck is the kid's name?!?   Can't wait for X-Force also.  Is Wolfsbane really dead?  We left off with her (possibly) getting shot in the head.  More importantly, issue 2 of ClanDestine comes out this week!!!
