    We are literally a year away from the release of the Robocop movie and already we're beginning to see images from the set, concept art for the new Robocop suit and even the first movie poster -- and the movie has only just begun filming. Over the weekend we got our first look at actor Joel Kinnaman suited up and ready to channel his inner Murphy. The two set photos reveal the actor strutting around in a very different kind of suit that had a lot of fans scratching their heads wondering 'where is the iconic chrome Robocop suit?' Regardless of where the chrome is, the set photos gave us our first look at what Robocop will look like. The suit is very different from the original version featuring a sort of matte black plating. Definitely not what we would expect in a Robocop suit, but interesting, nonetheless.

    We saw our first hint at what the suit would look like back in August, courtesy of FILMOPHILIA. The concept art depicted a darker suit with rigid plating (think Iron Man). While the finished product doesn't really look like the concept art we saw earlier this year, you can definitely see the resemblance between it and the finished product on the set of the film. However, while the concept art seems to resemble a heavy metal exterior, the set photos look more like a rubber suit. Then again, we can't expect a reboot of the film without some major changes being made.

    Now, not everybody is down with major changes -- especially when these changes are being made to the iconic look of a character like Robocop whose suit has remained virtually the same throughout all three Robocop movies, an animated series and a comic book. However, change is inevitable, and we all expected the appearance of the character to change at least a little bit since he was being reintroduced to a whole new audience. Whether you like the new look or not is up to you, but it's hard to judge the costume without seeing it on the big screen. Remember what Chris Hemsworth looked like in those Thor leaked set images? Not nearly as cool as he did in the final product. Check out the images of Kinnaman suited up as well as photos of many props and vehicles from the set, below.

    Well, I may be the only one, but I love the new look. It makes much more sense to me that Robocop look like this, since he is technically military grade hardware in this version - instead of the flashy chrome original that was not military grade. With the list of actors involved in this project, and the more militant look of both Robocop and ED209, I am really looking forward to this now.

    I don't mind the new design, but it's incredibly strange that they didn't even try to incorporate any part of the iconic look of the old suit. You'd think they'd keep the visor or something.

    After seeing the concept art fully, the suit does look better. It keeps the silver in the suit somewhat to be respectful to the previous version but makes it more sleek and actual cop looking since most cop uniforms are completely black anyway. So it makes sense.

    Plus the helmet looks accurate but more updated too. Overall, it looks fine.

    I wouldn't go so far as to say change is inevitable. Just look at Michael Bay's TMNT movie. It's because of his change that it's seeing a slow death.

    I'm not so concerned about the black suit as I am with the direction of the movie. The originals were so iconic because they were so cheesyball.

    I'm not sure if this is technically considered a remake or reboot, but it does make sense to change the look if that's what this is and I'm sure all of you complainers would complain about them ripping off the original or looking dated if he did look more like the original

    @brightstarr731: I like it also cause it seems to fit in the direction they are going.

    @kennyshat: I think they are planning to incorporate his inner leg mounted gun holster.

    @RuinedGlory: I also like this cause it looks updated and I totally didn't think about how most cops nowadays do wear black.

    @fACEmelter88: I like it too.

    @starrk_coyote: Same here. I was never a HUGE fan of the original design, but hey it was an 80's franchise so it kinda worked. But keeping things looking JUST like they did in the 80's isn't a good idea on somethings. Imagine if they decided to go for the blue and grey costume for Nolan's Batman. Not a pretty picture is it?

    @warpgirl: I'll agree that it does seem a bit generic, but it's still pretty early so they still have time to spruce things up. You make a good point about the original not looking like anything we had ever seen before back then, but that is also kinda why I'm not totally hating on all these remakes/reboot stuff. Cause up to this point we've seen just about everything and it's a difficult task coupled with a lot of pressure to create something new that hasn't already been done and not receive a lot of online hate for being a rip-off of something that has already been done.
