I preferred the original, but this doesn't look bad. That being said, I wonder in-universe why they've made it black? Because that could look villainous really, really easily.

Get A Closer Look At The 'ROBOCOP' Costume
There was a battery commercial in the early 90's that had a black robocop ripoff and it still looked better than this ...
Those shots where you can see the chest front on, make the costume look very cheap. I also don't get the one human hand. I mean from a purely logical standpoint, the hand is a very fragile piece of anatomy. While it's true current robotic technology can't replicate the both the fine, delicate movements and the grip strength of the human hand, but it's SUPER easy to break the grip of a human at the thumb.
Lots of whinners. Why am I not surprised? This day and age, people seem to get upset by anything. The movie hasn't even been released yet and lots of people are already b*tching about. Sigh....

I still think it looks like they painted Superman's New 52 costume black.
Ok. Now you just made me want a Superman costume that looks like that. Hehe!

Argh!!! It looks too much better than the original!!!!
He just doesn't give off the aura of being a cyborg to me. This looks more like a futuristic cop get up suited to a police force featured in any one of Philip K. Dick's science fiction dystopian novels or any sci-fi movie of the past. And that gun...wait a minute...its...its...
I'm really hoping they plan on replacing the fleshy hand in post and its just out for practical reasons. I can get over them painting Robocop's helmet black and pairing it with Nolan's Batsuit, but the asymmetrical hand thing will drive me nuts.

That outfit looks more like something from Mass Effect than RoboCop.
Not liking it. As a RoboCop thing, I mean. If these were shots from a Mass Effect movie, then sure. But I just don't see why they had to change the design so much.
Because the design from the 80's is what they thought "futuristic" would look like. That design doesn't play in today's time because that's not what we generally think of when we think of bleeding edge tech. We picture designs like Iron Man or the Mas Effect N7 armor. And this design shows it. Stop thinking about "well why did they have to change the design" and start wondering "well what was the original design trying to sell". As for the suit itself, the chest bothers me. It look cheep, but I like the overall look of it I guess.
If modern post-production computer technology can turn Chris Evans into a 90-pound weakling, then I'm sure Robocop will be given a few tweaks here and there to make him look less monochromatic. Therefore, the bare hand can't be a blatant design flaw.
While this design doesn't look liek Robocop to me, I'm willing to gave it the benefit of the doubt. I agree that this doesn't look like the original, but rather something out of Mass Effect or the Iron Man movies, but I want to see it in motion. See, the key point of the original Robocop was that he was pretty much a quadriplegin encased in an armored shell, he moved slowly and mechanicly because every neural signal had to be translated into something the machine could comprehend, and the reverse was also true, every sensory signal had to be translated for his brain to process. If this part is respected I can work around the design but, if I see even a hint of the Wachowski brothers in how he moves the entire movie won't be any good to me.
@MooseyMcMan:
Actually I was going to say the Crysis suit from, well Crysis. It's an interesting take on the outfit personally speaking.
@Maki_P: I can agree with that. But, then, I think a lot of that will come down to movement and acting.

@SnakeEyes327: Original RoboCop still looks futuristic to me!
The 80's Robocop is the equivalent of a DeLorean on two legs....I think we can expect the movement to be along the lines of Iron Man. A bit mechanical, but not stiff like the 80's version.
This will not rape my childhood.
My childhood had an X-Rated Robocop with extra gore, blood, and guts.
