With the return of new series writer Chuck Dixon (ROBIN, NIGHTWING, BATMAN) and art by fan-favorite Chris Batista (52, LEGION OF SUPERHEROES), Robin #170 is the start of a new era no one will want to miss! After a life-changing battle with Ra's al Ghul in Nanda Parbat, Robin comes home to Gotham to find there's a new girl in town, wearing a color he can't ignore. The new vigilante calls herself Violet, and she steals from the rich to keep for herself...and Robin's going to find out that's not all she's playing for. Plus, the return of an old friend with something to hide!

In a warehouse, a "business deal" is going down until it is interrupted by a new female vigilante. When all the men are beat, the guy in charge tells her there isn't anything she can do. She can't prove anything. She just calls him a "silly silly man" and takes all the money. He tells all this to Batman and Robin. The man yells and ask if she was "one of them" why did she just take the money. There's supposed to be "rules." Batman says she must be working in a gray area and the man corrects him and says "violet." She was dressed in purple. This makes Tim think of Stephanie. When he tries talking to Batman, he just says that they both warned her of the dangers of being Spoiler. He tells Tim you have to accept your losses and move on. He suggests he get home since he has school tomorrow.

The next day at school, Tim is still thinking about Stephanie. He thinks how she didn't even get a memorial in the Cave. Caught daydreaming in class, he is put on the spot to answer a question. When he stumbles, another student asks if he can answer. Tim recognizes the voice and is overjoyed to see his old best friend, Ives, sitting behind him.

Tim introduces Ives to his (sometimes) girlfriend Zo. Tim asks his what happened with the homeschooling since he was transfered to this school. Ives says he was driving his mom crazy and makes a quick exit. Tim is suspicious because he knows Ives' mom loved homeschooling him.

At the police station, the man arrested earlier is placed in a holding room and told he has a visitor. He thinks it's his lawyer but it turns out to be Robin. He asks him about the money and figures that this wasn't the first time money was taken. The man confirms this. Robin asks for another exchange of money to try to catch the vigilante. The man asks what he'd get in return. Robing tells him he won't get a visit from his "big scary pal."

The next drop is set to take place at a bowling alley. Robin waits and waits and is beginning to get tired. He eventually falls asleep only to be awoken by the girl in purple. She asks him what he's supposed to be and tells him she's working this place. Surprised, he says, "It's you, the one in violet." She then says that is her name. They begin fighting and fall through the ceiling into the bowling alley. She asks herself who he's supposed to be. Robin says he'll be a friend if she'll let him. She sprays him in the face with mace (his mask protects him) and punches him to the ground.

The next day, Tim is left trying to explain how he got a black eye when he was supposed to be studying at the library the night before. He tells Zo and Randi that he was messing around on a skateboard and wiped out. As they walk away, Tim sees a familiar blond walk by. He tells himself it's not just the hair but also the way she walks. He tries following her but loses her in the stairway. He figures it must be because he has Stephanie on his mind and that Violet reminded him of her.

At the police station, the criminal makes bail. He's picked up by the boss' men. He's never met him before. To his shock, he discovers it is the Penguin and he's not too happy with what has happened. He tells him to bring Robin and the female to him or he'll end up dead like the two other men that had their money taken away.
