All Robert Kirkman penned titles now featuring guaranteed ship dates!

Good news for Kirkman fans!  No one likes when a book is delayed.  On the other hand, I don't want a rushed out piece of crap.  If a comic is going to get cost me three - four bucks, I want something good.  There's always so many factors to consider when a book is late.  It could be the writer, the artist, the printer, etc.  It's not fair to lay the blame on a single person.  On the other hand if all of a creator's books are late, then that's saying something.

Kirkman is gaining more popularity.  People are venturing beyond the standard books put out the the big two and finding these gems that others have been reading for years.  This vow to keep books on time will just further enhance Kirkman's stardom.  Check out his stuff if you haven't been reading it.

Starting this January, Robert Kirkman gives his books the one thing fans have demanded for years - guaranteed ship dates!

"That's right, kids, this time it's for real," said Kirkman. "Every single one of my titles - WALKING DEAD, INVINCIBLE, ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN and BRIT - will now be guaranteed to ship by their solicited date. This isn't an empty promise and I've taken that extra step of hiring Aubrey Sitterson, an editor for my entire line, a guy you may know from his days at Marvel."

Aubrey Sitterson, who first worked with Kirkman on titles such as THE IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN and MARVEL TEAM-UP, has been quietly working with Kirkman for the last several months, ensuring the upcoming resolicited books hit their target date.

Sitterson said, "I spent years wrangling Robert at the House of Ideas. Now, I'm champing at the bit to crack the whip and mix whatever metaphors necessary to get every last one of his books out on time - no exceptions and no excuses!"

The guaranteed ship dates will begin this January, with ASTOUNDING WOLF-MAN #12, BRIT #12, INVINCIBLE #58 and THE WALKING DEAD #57.

# 5: Sonic the Hedgehog. People here would know that I seem to like that annoy kid at school who repeats the same thing over and over

agin. But what can I say. I love this series. It originally started out a promotional joke comic back when the Blue Blur was 8-bit on Genesis, but over a small time, it went through the entire comic book evolution, with the exception of the extreme 80’s. It was one of the first mediums that actually gave Sonic depth. When you see chili-dogs, who comes into mind? It proves that American and Japanese ideas can work together in the right way. Not mention that it the kind of comic you can read to your kids without you having a bad taste of sugar in your mouth when your done, or have kid be completely desensitize towards violence, blood, and sex. Ian Flynn and Tracy Yardley have recently made the series more like a cartoon show that you can’t wait to see each month. Not to mention, it defiantly a good comic that both adventurous and fun, the kind of stuff that made us read comics in the first place.

#4: 52. This comic was a bit gimmicky, but it was fun to see what can happen in a comic book universe week by week for a whole year. With a wide range of cast of characters and events, it’s hard not to enjoy this series.

#3: Kamandi. A Jack Kirby classic. With a series that revolves around a naked boy, I am surprise no one has made any gay jokes. Seriously, to sum up the series, it basically an greta mix between Planet of the Apes and Flash Gordon. Another charmed to this series is that it the title character gets a cameo in everything, but doesn't seem 'ready' to get a new seires for today's generation, so it makes it a hobby to find the orginal seires online.

#2:  Invincible, because it is likes a good drama show. Usually I steer clear of over dramatic stuff, like Desperate House Wives or Lost. It’s not that I hate them, it’s just too much to handle. But Invincible is an exception. It’s well balance with the drama and the light satire of  the ‘normal’ teenage life that keeps it from going totally morbid.

#1. Superboy vol. 4 done bay Karl Kesel. You know how Countdown was to pay tribute to Jack Kirby’s work when DC killed the New Gods? While Karl did before with during his second run on this series, not mention laid the best character development for our favorite kid, who never became the man that he wanted to be. Not to mention it was the series that got me into main stream stuff today (so, ya. Favoritism)

He did Marvel Zombies, is doing Walking Dead, Invincible, and the new Image United series.  I even enjoyed his work on the Iredeemable Ant-Man.  He has proven to be a great contributor to the format and I have personally met him.  He is a great guy and is down to earth.

The new era of Invincible begins with a distribution level sell out!

I have some catching up to do.  This has always been a title I've wanted to read.  I've seen the nice looking hardcover reprints but they're a little on the expensive side.  I did pick up this issue last week.  I started reading it but with Comic-Con and all, I didn't get around to finishing it.  Heck, I still haven't finished unpacking my suitcase.  I suppose I'll just have to jump into it and learn the characters.  Maybe the characters have some decent pages here.  That'd be useful.

The brand-new era of INVINCIBLE began with a nearly instantaneous sell out at the distribution level and a new printing is on the way.

"It's tradition for the issue after a milestone like fifty to taper off, but it certainly wasn't the case here," said Kirkman. "In fact, the combination of INVINCIBLE's new costume, new sidekick and the totally kick-ass cover by Jim Lee made this the best selling issue yet. Having this sell so well after we blew through issue fifty showed me the series is healthier than its ever been."

After the status quo was completely shattered in the fiftieth issue, Kirkman and series artist Ryan Ottley rebuilt the character from the ground up, giving him an entirely new direction which acted as the perfect jumping on point for readers unfamiliar with the book while giving longtime fans what they've always wanted, right down to the spine-tingling cliffhanger. While a very limited amount of the original printing may still be available in your local comic book shop, Image will be releasing a second printing featuring an homage to the series' very first issue by Ottley.

INVINCIBLE #51 second printing, a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in stores this August.

Image United

This is the stuff that fanboy's dreams are made of. Six issues written by Robert Kirkman, penciled by Todd McFarlane, Marc Silvestri, Rob Liefeld, Jim Valentino, Erik Larsen, and While Portacio all at once. Starring Spawn, Cyberforce, WitchbladeYoungblood, ShadowHawk(s) I &
Fortress
Fortress
II, Savage Dragon, and Portacio's newest creation - Fortress. Plus guest appearances galore by Spawn's villains, The Darkness, etc.  I can't explain it any better than Kirkman did here:

"Each artist is going to do the layouts for one issue," Kirkman explained. "Those guys will get the script for the issue and they'll be the one breaking it down into pages. Then once the story's laid out, they're going to be mailed all over the country, and everybody's going to be drawing their characters onto the pages. This is the future. It's going to be a lot of work, and I don't know -- maybe we'll have to give FedEx a credit in the book. But this just shows that anything can be done. "

I'm pretty sure nothing like this has been attempted before, from the couple pages I've seen (below), it looks pretty seamless. Its easily the biggest crossover/superhero event in a long, long time for Image. The thing that gets me even more excited is the possible reestablishment of the Image universe as one world (minus Jim Lee's creations and WetWorks obviously) where the characters interract with each other on a more regular basis than crossoverissues. Who knows maybe Chapel will get re-retconned into being the murderer of Al Simmons?
