well Madara was already immortal back then so i think they tried to stop him but failed.
they only damaged his body so he now uses Obito`s body.
Pein is the only survivor and was taken in by Jiraiya after the training he left to become the leader of Akasuki.
And we manga all know that he is being used by Madara so was it all a big plot by him?"

Yeah, i still like the Byakugan and Sharingan more though xP

Its remains to be said but i still think that the Sharigan maybe the strongest of the 3 eyes.
Cuz otherwise Pein wouldnt have been tricked by Madara so easely.

I agree that the Sharingan is possibly the best. It just has more downsides than the other two.
