    Riddle Me This

    Okay, I know. "Comic Viners" was a bit silly, but work with me on that for just a minute. 
    Since I'm posting this in the Riddler's Thread. I'm working off the safe assumption that those reading are most likely people who enjoy the Riddler character. Now, I am a fan of riddles and all kind of puzzles. It's one of the main reasons why I enjoy the Professor Layton series of games. I swear, I've played that game so much I'm hearing that music box song, played during puzzles, that it's become the soundtrack to my own personal thought processes.
     
    I thought it might be a fun idea for others to post some riddles they enjoy and let others take a crack at trying to solve them.
    One of the best tips in making a good riddle or puzzle is to present it properly. Try not to over complicate matters. It's also good to always try to plant a tip in your riddle. You can come straight out and say it's a tip, or you can be a little bastard, like the Riddler; and hide the tips within your explanation.
    You don't just have to answer my riddles.If you know a good riddle I'd love to hear it. Post your own .
     
    This is my first puzzle. It's moderate difficulty, but there is a hint there.
    Riddle:
    If 1 has 2, 2 has 5, 3 has 5, and 4 has 4. How many does 7 have?
     
    Keep your eyes on the clock, and see how long it takes you to figure this one out as the digits go by.

    @uncanny89: Well, your answer is right and wrong. It should be 3 since most digital clocks don't actually add that extra lip, but some do. I probably should of used 8 as the question. Though the fact you figured the meaning behind the riddle is good enough. Congrats!!

    Taking a wild guess here and saying that: you look in the mirror, since you're "reflecting" on yourself but not actually asking anyone.

    @Dark Abyss: Sorry, that's not the correct answer. That's a capital "i". It's just the way it appears when typed. It is what most people suggest. The solution is deceptively simple. 
    If there is no mistake in the alphabet. Where do you see the error.

    Alright, I am guessing that the error is the phrase "It's impossible" since 80% of the students COULD NOT find the error, however 20% of the remaining students DID find the error. Most likely there really isn't any error with the alphabets. Its just how the third line in regards to those students not finding the error and the phrase "it's impossible" to find the error is  worded. Hope this is it.

    Everyone is impressing me with their mental faculties. Let's try one that is very nasty puzzle.
     

    Riddle:

     
    You are in a room with three, unlabeled light switches and all of them are turned off. These switches operate three separate light bulbs in a separate room that you have no way of seeing into from the room you are currently in.
    Now, how do you identify which of these switches operates what light bulb when you are only allowed to enter the room with the lights once?

    Assuming you enter the room after toggling the switches, you could simply turn each of the first two on for a certain duration (the first for a certain period, then the second for a shorter period, while the first is still on), then off, and entering the room. I would then feel which bulb was the hottest, which would determine the first switch, then find the cooler one, which would be the second switch. I would leave the other one off, because that's obviously going to stand out more as number three, giving off no heat at all. I suppose you could also do this by keeping the two lights on, and determining which is hotter, but I prefer subtraction, so there you are. This isn't as cookie-cutter as the other two answers though. It also doesn't strike me as a traditional riddle, more of an abstract word problem. It's possible that I'm putting too much thought into it at this point, which is often the downfall of someone trying to solve a riddle.

    Your solution is fair, but it can be far more simple. You over complicate matters by trying to figure out the temperature of the heat levels.
     
    Let's first say that from left to right the switches are 1, 2, and 3, for the sake of explanation.
    Turn on switch 1 and wait for three minutes.
    Turned off switch 1 and turn on switch 3.
    Now enter the room.
    You will now have two dark bulbs and one turned on.
    Obviously the one that is on is operated by switch 3
    By process of elimination. The dark, warm bulb is operated by switch 1 and the dark, cold bulb is operated by switch 2.
     
    Quick and simple.

    @FoxxFireArt: um....well i guess again there are three candles left cause where the candles that the fire got blown off so they won't melt, he didn't blow out the other candles so they proly were all melted by the morning....shrugs

    Well done!! He only shut the window to prevent any more from being blown out. The rest of the candles continued to burn all night. While the three that were blow out remained out and burned no further. By the next morning there were only three candles left. The remainders were just puddles of wax.
