Rick is the reason the the Hulk came to be. On a dare, Rick drove out to a bomb testing ground. It happened to be the gamma bomb created by Dr. Bruce Banner that was being tested that day. As it explodes Dr. Bruce Banner pushes Rick into a protective trench, saving his life but absorbing the gamma rays that first transforms him into the Hulk. He felt guilty for what had happened and decided to stay with Dr. Banner and the HULK. He even for some time gained mental control over the HULK. |
