Thief of Thieves #2

4

Conrad AKA Redmond tries to go back to his civilian life after being a thief for years.

Can Conrad win back his ex-wife after quitting the business?

The Good

I really enjoyed the flash back sequences in this issue to when Conrad was a thief. It has some nice solid action to it, we get to meet a few more characters in this world, and it's developing the character of Conrad AKA Redmond very well.

The whole idea of thievery in comics is really appealing to me and the flashbacks of Conrad as a thief hit the nail on the head big time. They're exciting, and those scene really want me to keep reading.

The dialogue throughout the issue is really good. It flows incredibly well, and it's fun to read. Even though some of the scenes in this issue didn't appeal to me, the dialogue did and kept me interested.

I really like the art in this issue. The art is by Shawn Martinbrough and colors by Felix Serrano. I loved the heavy shading on a lot of the characters faces and although it's a pretty smooth art style, it really adds a gritty factor to the book.

The Bad

I'm still not too sure where this book is going, and I'm a bit down the middle when it comes to whether or not I like it. Sure, the writing and art are great, for the most part, but the story doesn't really have a great grasp on me as of yet.

The close ups on Audrey are tough to look at. The lighting is completely different than every other character in the book, especially the men. Her face is always perfectly lit, while the men are always in the shadows. It's noticeable almost immediately. The same goes for the character Celia in the beginning of this issue.

The Verdict

I'm back and forth between a 3 and a 4 on this book. I think this book has massive potential, but it really hasn't grabbed me yet. I enjoyed the flash back sequences in the issue, mainly because I love the idea of a comic about a thief, and they were very exciting, and I really enjoyed the dialogue through the issue. The art was very solid in issue 2 and I loved the heavy shadowing on the faces of the characters, except for the woman, who were always lit perfectly, which seemed very weird to me. I'm also not too sure what's going on with this book, and as the reader, I feel a lot more in the dark than I should. I recommend this issue, but out of curiosity more than anything.
