The Bunker #4 Review

5

In the aftermath of the bombing, we see the aftermath as the others discover what happened and meet the visitor from the future.

The Good

This is a story I find myself get immersed in each time I read an issue. The heart of the series is still about the bunker a group of friends discovered which contained information from their future. This information revealed that they may or may not be responsible for the end of the world along with other coming events. As we see more of each character, you can’t help but find yourself drawn to them. These are not perfect characters like you often see in comics and stories. They have their flaws and that adds a sense of realism despite the crazy nature of the story. With the idea of knowing about their future, there is the question of whether or not they can or want to change.

Fialkov is juggling a few different characters in this title. Each one clearly has their own identities. Seeing each one deal with the recent events is fascinating and despite knowing bits about their future, we’re still not sure what they will do next. Fialkov throws in the emotional angle as well. The focus on Natasha’s story in this issue is great. When they start to gather over the news of the bombing, what they find out about Grady's involvement is nothing compared to what they find out immediately after.

I recall someone early on saying they weren't sure if there was enough here for a long-lasting series. With each issue, I couldn't disagree more.

Joe Infurnari's art amazes me more and more with each issue. He captures the mood and vibe for each scene and switches the tone with ease. I just can't get enough.

The Bad

To say I love this series is putting it mildly.

The Verdict

THE BUNKER is one of my favorite current series. Josh Fialkov and Joe Infurnari are cooking up some crazy and interesting things. Whenever time travel or future knowledge is involved, things often get tricky. That's one of the cool aspects of the story. Infurnari's art is breathtaking. Simply put, this is a series you should be reading.
