Moon Knight #6

4

As Maya and Marc grow closer, the L.A. Kingpin is looking for Moon Knight. The REAL Captain America, Wolverine, and Spider-Man pay Marc Spector a visit as well.

If you were Moon Knight, what would you try to do with an Ultron head? Let's place bets on how long it takes before he tries to wear it.

The Good

You couldn't ask for a better creative team for this book. Brian Bendis and Alex Maleev really give this book some character. Maleev's art is striking, gritty, and perfect for a character like Moon Knight. You won't get giant, stand-out splash pages though. Maleev produces solid and consistent art that, as a whole, is more important than any single panel.

Captain America, Spider-Man, and Wolverine have been Moon Knight's side-kicks since issue one, even though they're just in Marc Spector's head. We finally get to see Marc interact with these characters for real as they co-star in the issue, and Marc's reaction to these characters really being here is pretty awesome.

The story has been great so far, and this issue really pushes the arc forward. We have a Kingpin of L.A. that wants Moon Knight, and Moon Knight, himself, is finally coming into his own as a tactical leader. As much as I'd love to see more action, I'm fine without it if each issue is just as solid as this one.

The Bad

Not too much Moon Knight in this issue. Lots of Marc Spector and set-up.

This issue primarily focuses on growing the relationship between Maya and Marc. While it wasn't a bad thing, I wasn't expecting it. It made the issue feel a tad unbalanced.

The Verdict

I've said this is my current favorite on-going book at Marvel, right? If not, I'm saying it now. I love this book. Bendis and Maleev are the only creative team ever to work on a Moon Knight book where I thought to myself, "I couldn't ask for anything more." I love Maleev's consistent and solid art work on this issue. The introduction of the real Captain America, Spider-Man, and Wolverine lead to a really cool one-page reaction from Marc Spector. There's not much Moon Knight in this issue, and the book feels a tad unbalanced because it focuses mostly on Maya and Marc's relationship, but other than that, it's a great read. I highly recommend this issue.
