Moon Knight continues his adventure in Los Angeles. Is he crazy or not? He's doing a great job making it look as if he is...
The very first thing you'll notice is the cover. Bullseye looks pretty sweet but you might be wondering what the heck he's doing on the cover. Isn't it time he returns...? We do get some follow up to last issue's 'special guest' along with a clever explanation during Moon Knight's conversation that had me ready to question Bendis' logic.
The selling point for me was seeing Marc Spector three months ago, setting up production on his television show. Buck Lime is beginning to be a favorite character.
The big question is who is the new Kingpin of L.A.? That is the focus of the comic. Who doesn't like a good mystery? We have to assume it's someone of a high caliber nature, especially if this person had plans for an Ultron head.
I can't say I'm a big fan of Snapdragon. But at least we're not seeing the same old villains or henchpeople we usually see. Also while we do have Echo returning from last issue, it felt like it was just set up for a possible next appearance. There is a lot of set up here with some action. Maybe I just wanted a tiny bit more action. It's great that we're seeing how and when Marc starting setting himself up in LA but I'm left wondering why he's determined to do this alone. Just because he's in LA doesn't mean other Avengers can't pop in if he needs backup.
This series is delivering a lot of questions. The main ones are is Moon Knight crazy and who is the new Kingpin of LA? Bendis shows us some flashback sequences with Marc setting himself up in LA and it's great getting some more information on those around him. Mysteries are fun and this issue continues to set up the story. We do get some action scenes but there isn't as much as in past issues. Fans of Bullseye will either get a kick out of his appearance here or be slightly disappointed. Maleev's art firmly establishes the mood for Moon Knight's wacky world but I can't say I'm crazy about Snapdragon being the other baddie in this issue. How long will we have to wait for the reveal of the Kingpin and what will the payoff be like?
