The Good

Luckily, this issue is infinitely more appealing and readable than the first issue. It was a bit of fun, even though I'm not into the whole "magic" part of DC comics. I really liked the character Mindwarp, and yes, I mean that to be in past tense. As quick as he showed up, he was gone.

It may sound rough, but since George Perez wasn't on this issue, I was much more pleased with the art. It wasn't amazing or anything, but it did it's job.

This issue was a lot easier to follow than the first. I don't know what the big difference is since Peter Milligan wrote both issues. I usually really enjoy his work, and one of the things about his writing I liked was the pacing. It gets to a point in the issue where we get a cinematic montage where everything is going wrong all at the same time, well the whole issue felt like that. Quick and decently fun read.

The Bad

Wait... I thought this team was going to be assembled to stop the Aquaman and Wonder Woman war, but people are dying and they don't seem to be working as an actual team. I am utterly confused. This book is going in a completely different direction than I thought it was going, and I'm a bit disappointed.

I still don't care for the majority of characters in this book. I originally picked it up because I liked Gail Simone's Secret Six so much and I thought it would have some sort of tie-in, and it really doesn't. I understand it's a different universe and all, but I was hoping for too much I guess.

Mindwipe dies. The one character I think is really cool bites the bullet.

The Verdict

As I said in the last review, this mini-series is not my cup-o-tea, but this issue is immensely better than the first one because it covers a few other characters, instead of just one or two. I'm very disappointed that this book is taking a completely different turn than I thought it was being presented in the first issue, but it looks like the last issue should be a lot of fun. I just think there's way too much going on in this new universe in this three-part series for people to enjoy. Issue three should be pretty decent though. Borrow it.
