Recap
We see a teleporting Inhuman. It's been 14 hours since he went through the mists, through Terrigenesis. He's freaking out because he can't see. He has no eyes, it's the one we saw last episode. This is a flashback. His name is Gordon. Skye's mom is there, trying to console him. Skye's mom ages slowly. She helps guide them so they have someone, so they're not lost.
Skye is locked in the medical bay in quarantine. She can't believe Trip isn't coming back. Coulson says Trip saved them by destroying the Obelisk since it triggered an earthquake. Mac has been cleared of quarantine. Simmons is working with others to search through the rubble. Skye blames herself for them failing. If she didn't go down there, they could've bombed the place.
A group meets to talk about Whitehall's death. Baron von Strucker is mentioned. A position is now open. Whoever defeats S.H.I.E.L.D. wins the spot. An agent is grabbed in the tunnels and killed. Raina? She attacks more but Simmons finds her and shoots her. She noticed she was covered in thrones.
Bobbi brings Skye a survival kit. She says she's been in quarantine before and knows how it can drive you crazy. Fitz tries getting Mac to talk about what he went through. Later, they're all outside Skye's containment area. Mac is angry and yelling at Coulson. Skye sits there listening. You can see she's feeling bad. Soon things start shaking around her.
Coulson agrees to trade Bakshi for his assistance in tracking down HYDRA. As they're transporting him, they're attacked. When it looks like they're safe, May and Coulson are shot. Bakshi is driven away by...Hunter?!? Is he a traitor? Another one? It turns out it's a trick.
Simmons is worried Raina could spread an epidemic. Raina's DNA has been changed. They should have destroyed the alien material instead of try to find answers.
Raina finds Skye's dad. She wants to know what happened to her. She thought she'd be changed into something divine, not a monster. She's angry that Skye wasn't changed. She feels Skye took what was meant to be hers. He mentions Skye will need him since she wasn't mentally prepared. Raina wants him to help her. He says he can't, there's no going back. She's on her own. She later contemplates walking out into traffic.
Bakshi takes Hunter to a location. He tells Hunter he has to wait outside. Bobbi joins Hunter as they wait. Mac apologizes to Coulson. Simmons expresses her concern with Raina being on the loose. If she has to be put down, that might not be a bad thing. Fitz talks to Skye alone about her readings. Her heart rate was off the charts. He says it's "inhuman." He says she must have survived the destruction at the temple because she must have caused it. She starts to freak out and causes the lights to shatter.
Coulson visits Trip's mom. A signal is sent out to the HYDRA men. Half are being killed. They send some armed men out to kill Hunter. Their car is armed and shoots them. Bobbi and Hunter enter the building, shoot all the HYDRA men except Bakshi. Back at the base, May sees Skye's bleeding. She and Simmons ask what happened. She tries to figure out what to say. Fitz comes and lies. Said he knocked over something and her blood sample was normal. He replaced the results with her olds one. He's covering for her until they figure out what to do.
Raina tries killing herself. Some agents surround her. She says kill her or she'll make them do it. The eyeless Inhuman teleports in and takes her away.
The Agents reminisce about Trip. Bobbi and Mac are planning something. They've confirmed that Fury's "toolbox" and the schematics of the base are in Coulson's office.
Thoughts
We get a pretty decent amount of action here. Starting out with the Inhuman teleporting and trying to deal with his change was a nice change of pace. A common complaint many had with the show was the lack of the Marvel "feeling." Now we're starting to see more of the superpowers evident in some of the Cinematic Universe films. Going in detail about the changes after being exposed to the Terrigen Mists and being mentally prepared for it is starting to lay down the foundation for the Inhumans in the Cinematic Universe. We're starting to see that there's several of them and the change is something they prepare for and deal with. Now that Skye has gone through the change, she won't have the support or anyone to help her deal with it or understand what's going on. And the teleporting effects were pretty cool.
How often have we seen people driving in a car only to get blindsided? Of course it was all a set up. Seeing May and Coulson try to fight a squad of enemy agents was cool and it's possible some might have been tricked that they were actually shot. Along with May and Coulson, Bobbi and Hunter get their share of action as well. This is what the show needs. We need things to happen to keep us glued.
Parts that make your eyes roll is the idea of the crazed enemies outraged and determined to seek revenge. Skye's dad is angered by the fact that Coulson killed Whitehall when his death was supposed to belong to him. Now, of course, Coulson is his number one enemy. Obviously this will cause problems later. Raina is angered as well. Her blaming Skye for taking her transformation was a bit silly. Skye's dad claimed Raina was prepared for being exposed to the Obelisk. Yet, she believes that change is based on timing and being present rather than it actually unlocking the potential inside. It would make more sense that the Mist would bring out whatever she was meant to be. Even though she was taken by the same group that Skye's mom was with, you know she's going to want to get her own revenge against Skye. As for Raina's new look, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.
It was also weird that NO ONE noticed Skye shaking things in her glass quarantine area. Sure they were all arguing but she was pretty much behind a wall of glass.
Even though they're in desperate times, there's a lot of secrets going on with the Agents. Bobbi and Mac are hiding something and Fitz is keeping Skye's secret. Based on their track record with Ward being a double agent as well as May reporting back to Fury, you would think they'd learn to be a little more trusting with one another.
The show is heating up. We didn't quite have the excitement we had right before the mid-season finale. The idea of Inhumans being present does feel like it could suddenly take over the direction of the show. At least they're still dealing with HYDRA. The show will have to make sure to keep a balance between the dealings of HYDRA and the emergence of the Inhumans as well as try to mix in other aspects of the Marvel Universe. But things are looking pretty good.
