Origin
Kwannon was a Japanese assassin. She worked for the crimelord Matsuo Tsurayaba. She was also his lover. After she was seriously injured and placed in a coma, Matsu'o bargained with Spiral to save her. Spiral switched Kwannon's mind with that of Elisabeth Braddock, a.k.a. Psylocke of the X-Men.
The switch caused Kwannon to gain Psylocke's memories and powers. She claimed to be the real Psylocke and gave herself the name "Revanche," which is French for Revenge.
She stayed at the X-Men mansion for a while and it caused a tense situation between the two.
When Kwannon discovered she had been infected with the Legacy Virus, she went to Matsu'o and begged him to kill her. Before leaving the mansion, she left behind Elisabeth's bionic eyes.
On her grave, Matsu'o and Psylocke chose to engrave as a tribute the epitaph "Kwannon, love that transcended body and soul".
Powers
Kwannon was a superior assassin and skilled in martial arts. She had gained the power of telepathy and could create a samurai sword through psionic energy.
Alternate Realities
Ultimate Kwannon (Earth-1610)
In the Ultimate Universe, Kwannon never made an appearance as herself. However, after the apparent death of Elisabeth Braddock, Psylocke made a return in Kwannon's body. She explained that as her astral form wandered between our world and the next, she encountered the mind of a girl trapped in a coma. After helping Kwannon to move on and find peace, Psylocke was granted the use of her body.
Ultimate Kwannon was still a minor at the time of her death, which proves a challenge for the much more mature mind of Psylocke now using her body.
House of M (Earth-58163)
Revanche makes a small cameo in the House of M universe as a member of Lord Magnus' Royal Guard.
