razzatazz's Resurrection Man #4 - Double Take review

Like the death cry of the seraphim

The overall averageness of the series continues here.  With the last issue's showdown between Mitch and the Body Doubles over it is now to the Transhuman to intervene to save his new found friend.  This leads to a fun but forgettable battle between Bonny and the new character.  In the meanwhile Carmen has to deal with Mitch who has fought off the effects of the drugs.  In effect the first part of this issue has little plot and lots of action.  As the second part of the issue starts though there is a bit more here to grab onto, with Mitch making an unlikely decision, a revelation about Transhuman and the appearance of Suriel.  While this was a bit better conceived it gave the whole issue a sense of confusion, one half dealing with science, the other with religion.  I wouldn't say necessarily that this title is headed in a bad direction, just that it is not where it needs to be at the moment.

The panel layouts are just a bit chaotic i...

I really wanted to give this book a chance to impress me. Based on the glowing recommendations by my local shop owner, I picked up the last few issues of this book and I was thrilled with the first and second issues, but there were warning signs on issue three and by this one, I may not pick up #5. Let me start by saying that this is not a bad comic, It just seems that Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett aren't sure where they're going with this book. They started with a very Animal Man/Swamp Thing feel...
