Origin
Red XIII is a sapient four legged creature that closely resembles a large wolf or lion, however distinguished by his red fur and dark red mane. He was born in Cosmo Canyon, his father would seem to abandon him at some stage, causing resentment from Red XIII towards him. His mother would also pass on at some stage as well, eventually Red XIII would come to be cared for, by a human elder in Cosmo Canyon, Bugenhagen, who he would come to refer to as grandfather.
A corrupt and unethical Shinra scientist Professor Hojo, would desire a member of Red XIII's species so would send the Turks to capture a member. Red XIII would sacrifice himself in order to preserve the only other living member of his species, Deneh. The Turks would escort Red XIII to Hojo in Midgard, where he would be branded and experimented on, and be kept in containment until rescued and released by Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, and Barret.

Red XIII is a fictional character who appears in the video game franchise Final Fantasy, appearing first in Final Fantasy VII.
