    Back With A Vengeance

    The Story:

Jason Todd has dug his way back from the dead and is found by Talia Al Ghul. She restores his vitality by use of the Lazarus Pit and begins to have him trained for her own goals. After months of preparation, Jason Todd targets the Joker.

    My Thoughts:

This six issue mini-series is written by Judd Winick, the same man who wrote Batman: Under The Red Hood which marked the reappearance of Jason Todd as the Red Hood. In this mini-series, Winick focuses on Todd's life just shortly after his return. I don't think any other writer out there writers Jason Todd better than Judd Winick. Every time there's a story involving Jason that's written by Winick it's always a knockout hit.

Winick's characterization for Jason Todd is what always makes his stories involving him so compelling. The way he writers his character is astounding. I love how WInick had Talia influence Jason's decisions as he was basically a puppet on her strings, or so it appeared. I loved how parts of Jason's morality were still there from before his death even though he's taken on a new approach to the way he handles a lot of situations. Such are his views on killing with no remorse. However, all that aside it doesn't stop him from saving humanity as the Joker plans on poisoning the water supply. Dramatic storytelling at its finest.

The art is drawn by Pablo Raimondi and Jeremy Haun. Not names I'm familiar with prior to reading this comic but their combined efforts were remarkable. The style definitely suited this story as it has a darker feel to it that compliments the writing so well. The way the action sequences were presented truly made this feel like a spy action/thriller film unfolding in front of your eyes. Everything falls together so well and effortlessly in this comic. Cover artist Billy Tucci designed some sensational covers that capture Todd magnificently in all his glory.

All fans of the Batman family and especially Jason Todd should check this comic out if they haven't already. Winick's storytelling is on point as he delivers a truly amazing story chronicling Todd's life shortly after his return from the dead that's definitely worth the read.
