Everyone loves the Big Red Helmet

So I was a completely new reader to the DC world last Fall, with my first single issues of DC comics being those that belong to the New 52. At first I had planned to get the first issues of every release but that would have been pricey so I sold most of them away and kept a few of the ones that actually interested me, one of those being Red Hood and the Outlaws. First let me say that Red Hood is by far my favorite comic book character. I know for that comment alone the whole comic book community would chastise me cause it seems that, though this book is popular and doing well, there is an equal amount of hate for the book from the complete opposite side. But I love the underdog, I love that he was a previous Robin, I love that he was killed off AS Robin the year I was born (1989), and I love that he has come back as the Red Hood, caused mayhem in Gotham, gave Batman a headache, and after all of that, found some sort of meaning to his life, or at least clues to finding that meaning. Now, off that tangent, let me good started on this book. Red Hood and the Outlaws, was no where near what I expected it to be. I didn't know much about Roy Harper, I didn't know much about Starfire (other than what I watched as a kid of the Teen Titans). Roy kind of annoyed me and I did not see an reason to throw in the 3/4 naked Kori that took up two pages. My first of these characters was that Roy was a horndog and the typical douchebag you saw on an American Pie film, and Kori was a slut who, if the writers had a choice in casting in a movie, would be played by Megan Fox (not that wouldn't be hot) but I was really frightened that these characters wouldn't have depth to them and in this first issue there really isn't anything else to say about them honorably other that Roy was trying to save a country from an evil dictator and Kori hates pointless wars. However I loved this book because, in spite of the lack of character development with Kori and Roy (which is understandable, it's only the first book), Jason Todd/Red Hood really drew me in. I have a little bias already to the character but he was just awesome to me, I love the new history that he has, I loved that he has an unkempt relationship with every single character in this book, including the mysterious Essence, whom I found an awesome addition to the book. I love his attitude towards everything in his life, even how walking in on Roy and Kori while they cuddle with each other naked in bed, that he is unaffected, it's almost as if he is above all the petty problems of the world. I love that, where in the beginning I was scared that this book wouldn't be taken seriously with Kori flipping her hair out of the water and Roy making the comment: "There is a God...", that Scott Lobdell showed us how he could make this storyline BIG. There is whole other world that Jason is from (not literally) and I love that Lobdell took time to take a not so well known character from the comic book world and elaborate on him a little more. Let's be honest with ourselves guys, isn't most of the time our favorite character in anything always someone who ISN'T the main character (other than Batman)? I feel like I may have gone on a little too long on this review, I'm new to ComicVine and I was really excited on being able to put up reviews. I hope this encourages people to pick up the book and see what it's all about. To those of you who do: They only get better. Thank you all for reading. P.S. I have nothing against Megan Fox

      The Art Was Great... 0

I've always jokingly referred to Kory as "Slutfire" simply because I dislike the fact (and admit to needlessly hating on her) because of her relationship with Dick (insert penis jokes here). The fact that the nickname now actually applies doesn't really give me any joy. I was giddy for about fifteen minutes before it really sunk in what a low blow this was to the portrayal of women in comics. There's nothing wrong with a woman who's comfortable with her sexuality. There's nothing wrong with a wom...

Yes...I willingly read a story featuring Jason Todd 0

Red Hood is busy putting together his team of mercs when his complicated past inserts itself into his present. The GoodI really liked the art in this book and many of the design changes didn't bother me at all. There was a lot of action in this issue and that looks to be the status quo from here on out. There was some genuinely humorous banter between Jason and Roy.This book clears up some of the things about Titans continuity I was wondering about. The BadDon't like Jason's new mask...seriously hel...
