Origin

Living in Baytown, Texas, Wallace Jackson was a 16-year old, who wore a costume designed by his uncle who worked for NASA.  He decided to come to New York City to play fight with his favorite superhero, Spider-Man.  Spider-Man did his best to outsmart the kid, and they fought until they crashed through a window at the State Street Hospital.  Red Nine had a high fever and passed out, so Spider-Man left him there.  Red Nine woke up and looked for Spider-Man again, and this time Spider-Man destroyed Red Nine's costume, but Spider-Man later learned that Wallace helped a group of elderly patients against a mean hospital administrator.

The Initiative

Years later, Red Nine appears in Camp Hammond, as an official recruit for the Initiative, along with Ant-Man, Crusader, Melee, Geldoff, Dragon Lord, Geiger, and Diamondback.   He was one of the trainees that tried to defeat K.I.A., but lost.  During the Secret Invasion, he along with the other recruits, participated in the attack against the invading Skrulls.  After being surrounded, they were saved by Nick Fury and his Commandos.  Red Nine was also among the heroes who took part in the final battle in Times Square.  Red 9 was among those heroes who approached the Skrull ship which contained everyone who was replaced by the Skrulls prior to the invasion. Upon completion of Camp Hammond's training program, Red 9 was assigned to the Georgia state Initiative team, the Cavalry.  Red 9 participated in the cleanup at Camp Hammond following the battle with Ragnarok.

Fear Itself

Commander Steve Rogers informs Prodigy of the unknown meteors that have fallen from the heavens and mass panic is on the horizon. Rogers asks Prodigy to gather heroes on a volunteer basis to help keep the peace and lead a new Initiative where there is no forced conscription or registration. Prodigy agrees to become the leader of the new Initiative and most of the former Initiative members including Red 9 gather in Washington DC.

Powers and Abilities

Red Nine wears a costume which allows him to fly, and gives him superhuman strength.  The costume also gives him a force field which protects him from harm, and enables him to shoot energy bolts.
