Metrion seems to have an origin similar to the character Metron. Some have suggested that Metron is actually an abbreviated form of 'Metatron', who is an angel that functions as the voice of God (primarily in Catholicism). It could also be a reference to a Metronome, which is a a device for keeping time in music.

Primarily is servers as a mantra to ease her meditation and a focus point. For the meditation it probably helps her slip into the state of mind she wants/needs to be in.
