So... Quicksilver, or the Flash?

#1 Posted by Valiant Paladin (36 posts) - - Show Bio

I was seriously pondering this the other day, so I figured I'd ask. This is merely in regards to who would be the fastest. Discuss.

#2 Posted by Ebony Bishop (767 posts) - - Show Bio

Doesn't it depend on where they are? In the Avengers/JLA crossover, in the Marvel Universe, Quicksilver is faster, as the Speed-force doesn't exist there. But in the DC universe, because of the Speed-Froce, Quicksilver couldn't keep up.

And as of right now? Bart has the ENTIRE Speed-Force, and Pietro lost his speed power, so it's a no-brainer. :)

#3 Posted by Valiant Paladin (36 posts) - - Show Bio

yeah, i wasn't really thinking about the whole no more running for quicksilver thing. So let's just go back a couple of years, so I don't look completely retarded. :P

the Flash is faster without a doubt. Quicksilver is probably one of, if not the fastest person in the Marvel universe, but he is unable to do all the ridiculous crap that the Flash seems to be capable of, such as going forward in time and passing through solid objects.

I read somewhere that in Argentina, the Flash is known as Flushman.

When I hear "fastest person in Marvel", Aurora & Northstar, Silver Surfer, Sentry, Gladiator & other space people come to mind. Not in this order mind you, but that's what I think of.

On topic though, Flash FTW.

While I haven't kept up with Bart OYL, I know that Wally was crazy faster than Quicksilver.

#11 Posted by valinorbob (52 posts) - - Show Bio

Well, until the 'secondary mutation' craze kicked in, Quicksilver topped out at like 200 mph, so Flash was way faster. Now, Marvel has upped the power levels on a lot of mutants and that put Quicksilver at about what the Flash used to be before the speed-force stuff became a big deal.

You're probably right in saying that Quicksilver is not one of the fastest. I have to admit that most of the stories I've read that feature him are in the Ultimate universe, where he is much faster than his 616 counterpart.

#13 Posted by Ebony Bishop (767 posts) - - Show Bio

Yeah, Quicksilver still seemed to be visible when he was at top speed, whereas Northstar and Aurora move too fast for the human eye to see.

sigh I miss Alpha Flight.

#14 Posted by Scarlet (9 posts) - - Show Bio

The Flash is defenantly faster. Quicksilver is actually probably one of the slower speedsters in comics. Even when he got exposed to Isotope E (or whatever it was I can't rember off the top of my head)and got a boost in his powers he topped out at about the speed of sound.

Yep, Pietro's pretty slow, but that doesn't mean I love him any less :P.

Of course, if you're talking about Ultimate Quicksilver he can go much faster, above Mach 10, not sure how much above Mach 10, but definatly above it. Though, I think Flash would still be faster than Ultimate Quicksilver.

#15 Posted by Kaiho13 (37 posts) - - Show Bio

the Flash is definitely faster but Quicksilver is DEFINITELY COOLER !!!!!

#16 Posted by Koala00 (3 posts) - - Show Bio

Could Quicksilver mimic his lost speed with his Time travel by vibrating molecules at faster than light speeds...like Zoom?

#17 Posted by Koala00 (3 posts) - - Show Bio

If he could he will be fastest..

#18 Posted by Satyrquaze (4542 posts) - - Show Bio

In their respective universes Flash is faster by leaps and bounds.

The fastest man alive in the Marvel Universe is Makkari, he's pretty much Flash's equal.

#19 Posted by Forever (4332 posts) - - Show Bio

As I recall Quicksilver topped out at 770 mph and that's nowhere near Flash.

#20 Posted by fesak (7054 posts) - - Show Bio

Anyone read that speed contest in Quasar 17? Flash had crossed over to the MU (but they called him something else).

Guess who won?

And BTW, The Runner is the fastest Marvel character.

#21 Posted by Forever (4332 posts) - - Show Bio

Never read it. Who won?

#22 Posted by fesak (7054 posts) - - Show Bio

Flash. Makkari came in second, The Runner didn't compete, he held the competition.

#23 Posted by Satyrquaze (4542 posts) - - Show Bio

The race you're thinking of was a qualifying race, they held a race later on, "Buried Alien" and The Runner were also competing and Makkari won.

Side note: God, I hate that art.

Even so, you're right. If Marvel and DC were to hold a cross-company race to decide who was truly the fastest... I'd still say the Flash.

The race however would be closer than Flash vs. Superman was.

Flash hands down

Who won in Sup's v Flash i cant remember and im afraid that Sup's did

Ok but here is the question nobody is asking, If speedsters have a connection to the speed force but when they crossed quicksilver should have gotten a connection as well. now with the whole fastest man alive thing i remember the speed force vanishing didnt effect jay because he was a metahuman but quicksilver is a mutant and with the speed force could have been god only knows how fast. I think it was pretty unfair that the other speedsters got to use the speed force but quicksilver didnt. im not 100% familiar with the speed force but im guessing all speedsters in the DCU have some kind of connection with it.

I remember this being in a Wizard once, and as fast as Quicksilver is, the Flash is faster. I give this one to Flash.

#29 Posted by Silver (2 posts) - - Show Bio

Ok um i just read up on the speed force and remembered the ability that bart allen once was able to make speed scouts which is basically what quicksilver does now so thats just something to think about.

I wouldn't say that. I mean Jay Garrick the original flash has a metahuman gene where he can run at 700 (I think) And he got the speed force and he is not a god.

I know he is talking about that quicksilver should have got the speed force in the crossover. But I was just saying and I kind of agree with him. I would love to see what quicksilver can do with the speed force........... Oh wait. My bad I read what he said that "God onlys knows how fast he be" lol My bad.

The flash would eat quickie alive! quicksilver is nowhere near flash's level!

#39 Posted by teukro (4 posts) - - Show Bio

I know this thread is old but this are my two-cents:

The Flash has always been WAY faster than Quicksilver with the only exception being the first months of Wally West as the scarlet speedster. At that time Wally could only run at the speed of sound.

Quicksilver topped at the speed of sound since his creation until his solo series (90s) when he used the Isotope-E to power up. After that he was faster but none stated how fast. Anyway he was NOT "Flash fast" (meaning: barely under the speed of light)

Later Pietro lost his speed, gained time-travelling powers (he used this power many times to "jump" very little in time so many versions of himself appeared together)

Now he regained his speed and looks to have it on the same undefined "post-Isotope-E" level.

I agree that the faster being on the Marvel 616 Universe is the eternal Makkari.

Others like The Runner, Flashfoward ("Buried Alien"/Barry Allen), Speed Demon, Pulsar (ex Captain Marvel) and Northstar and his sister have always been faster than Quicksilver since almost all of them were able to run near the speed of light.

Im guessing Silver Surfer and other cosmic characters are also faster.

But as someone pointed out: he still is the better character of the bunch (including all the dead-no-wait-im-back Flash put together)
